Soil sample results

I sampled my silage fields (2 years reseeded) and got the results back. PH is 6.4 and 6.8 but my p and k are index1(70kg P and 110kg per/h recommended) .
I will be cutting 2 cuts of silage off it, and hope to get 3000 gallons of suckler slurry on it. What fertiliser would suit me to sow?
Is it too late to apply mop before cutting, results recommend 30kg/h previous autumn with remander 80kg/h in spring. Hope that makes sense to yous

Potash be fine to apply now but that won't sort your phosphate
Either get hold of some rock phosphate or put on 16 16 16
Your two cuts of silage will remover approx 100 units acre of Potash

Your recommendation won't even cover what the silage crop removes but then that takes no account for the slurry applied

Sorry that amount was for first cut only. It was another 25kg/h of p and 100kg/h of k for the second cut. I'll get on to my agri supplier and see what he has.

How many acres do you have to cover?

Could you make use of a load of Fibrophos? Even a capped 22t load would work out well priced.

Various grades available.

I would go so far as to put on a full lorry load of fibrophos if it was me with indicies at 1. It can be very hard to raise P and K in intensive cutting regimes as you are taking it P and K away all the time.

The combined recommendation for K application in autumn and spring is due to the risk of staggers where you are grazing it. If you are cutting only the risk is zero.

If the area concerned is big enough, use fiborphos, if it is smaller, then use 0.24.24 or similar to bring indices back to where they need to be. For 15 acres I would use 0.24.24 and just chuck it on now or when you can travel, do your first dose of N (and sulphur) as well.

I would slap the 3000 gallons of slurry/acre on regardless of what else you do. You will need it.

Fully agree, I now travel most of my low index 1 ground with 100kg/acre of 0:24:24 to cover a multitude of sins and then aftercut+s at the same rate there after with either 100/150kgs of 0:24:24 after all cutting is done or hammer it with the spreader

Get 30/50kg out now and maybe a tittle of N two weeks later then balance when ready

Unfortunately 0 24 24 doesn't seem to be available over here either. On the Goulding site it say England, Scotland and Wales only

Sulphur!! 👌

We spread a bit of AS + KCl blended with guano or DAP, that gives things a good kick along, and a few of the guys are listening to the weird hippy spreader driver and mixing dry minerals into it as well as it bulks them out and adds no cost as far as application goes. Get it out there and into the system.
