Starting up sheep farming

I am looking to start my own flock of sheep, possibly 100
How many acres would be needed? I am in the lowlands
My partner is an arable farmer so is there any way sheep could benefit this?

Do you have a breed you'd like to work with every day?
The size of the ewes makes a difference to the answer to your first question.

What type of arable does your partner farm?
Makes a difference to the availability of forage and fodder for a flock.

So many variables. New lay, perm pasture, dry ground that burns off in summer or heavy ground that is a swamp in winter. Little welsh ewes with a lamb a piece that do on a lick of grass or big heavy greedy beasts with twins? Conserving own forage or buying in forage?

Also do you enjoy lambing or like the idea of it? If not, there are other ways to keep sheep without having a breeding flock.

Ask yourself the 'why'.

Arable ground provides lots of options for winter cropping, short term leys, resting ground (greening). depending on the amount of arable and the rotation, you could probably accommodate many more than 100 ewes.

I would ideally like a few pedigrees such a blue Texels but other than that I would go for mules
Wheat barley beans and rape mainly

Would probably have to buy in own forage as the arable side is only wheat barley beans and rape

Haulm would have a feed value, wouldn't it? Wheat likes to be lightly tillered with grazing.
You could develop a grazing rotation if your fencing is good.
