Sumo trio single pass cultivator

Evening everyone
Looking at a single pass stubble cultivator but my biggest tractor is 140hp. According to the sumo website the hp required for the 2.5m is 120-130hp. Anyone have or use one and what hp are you using? Most of our land is light. Thanks

Look at a weaving subdisc , easier ,to pull do just as good a job , ,dd packer ,or razor ring packer

Also ha e a look at a Simba/Great Plains/ Kverneland DTX...relatively easy to pull and you’ll manage 3 m as apposed to 2.5....and the weather proofing of the DD roller is excellent!

I picked up a s/h 2.5m Trio early this summer for loosening and levelling. It’s got 4 legs as opposed to 5 on new. They are heavy if fitted with 800mm packed. I’m impress with what it’s done but I have 200 hp 7530 on front I wouldn’t think our smaller 6534, would be comfortable but depends on soil and terrain

we bought a 3 mt trailed trio last season, had it on trial, see how you go, never went back .170 hp afew more would help but goes well.

If its mounted make sure your top link is in top condition if it fails when raised off the ground you be buying two new rear tyres when the legs pivot forward

It’s not the HP that’s the problem it’s the weight of the machine and distance of the roller from the link points. 140hp will pull it in soils which are not very heavy but most 130-140hp tractors don’t have the weight to handle it if you have any banks or hills.
I have a 5 leg 2.5m auto reset Sumo here. No way my JD6630 would handle it safely on our ground. Run it instead on a JD6170R. When I bought it I thought I would go for the 3m machine. Dealer really talked be out of that for the JD6170R and VERY GOOD advice it proved to be.
If you are all on light level ground with a really good weight on the front you will manage but don’t underestimate the weight of the machines.
PS Great machine and I wouldn’t be without mine now.
PPS Hydraulic top link strongly recommended.

It wont have discs, but if you don't have larger stones it might be worth considering an original 3m Mcconnel Shakerator with 5 legs, and if bought right can be found for buttons. Dealers will try and charge more than it was new.
Dont look at the the later discaraetor, it's way too long, heavy and numb for 140hp.

Ran a 2007 shearbolt model on a tm140 classic with half a set of weights in the spring on maize ground, she pulled it fine but needed the rest of the weights as you had to turn down hill to avoid wheelies
