T0 PGR's

I'm not entirely convinced with the whole PGR-on-thin-crop=improved tillering argument. I only apply Moddus or anything non CCC to a crop that is at risk of lodging. CCC at £1.70/ha is cheap insurance.

If it's thin the best thing is a set of rolls it'll do far more good than something out of a can.[/QUOTE]
I have rolled some late drilled WW, I know some do it several times, what is the latest GS its safe to roll?

T0 :(

Plenty of disease & tillers there. Yield potential is 8+ t/ha so I'm loath to skimp now & have to spend mega bucks at T1 to try & clean it up. I have wild oats to do too so I need the extra pass really.

I have a field of December drilled wheat that needs rolling. It is due Atlantis + Defy. How long after rolling should I wait before spraying or should I spray first. My reasoning for rolling first would be that the chemical would be applied to the rolled ground and possibly take out any fresh germinating grass. The field had liquid fert applied two weeks ago.

Asked similar questions last year.

Old advice used to say do not spray anything three weeks either side of rolling, though I appreciate that's impractical these days. Just leave as long as you can.

Strolling off-topic, but our April Atlantis performed plenty better than March Atlantis last year to stop me from applying any for two weeks anyway.

With all this bad weather I haven't managed to do a t0. The crop is at gs31 and I would have liked to go with 1l ccc and 0.1 modus as soon as I can probably be 4/5 days yet before there might be a weather window. If I do this is it possible to go again with 1.5 ccc and 0.2 modus at T1 or would the two applications be too close together? It is strong land and has had pig slurry so I'd rather over do the pgr than run the risk of losing it on the ground.

I’ve just done this, by mistake though. I put the T0 pgr twice on some thick Dawsum. 1l/ha CCC and 0.15l/ha of moddus 6 days apart. It looks ok so far. Pretty annoyed with myself. First cock up I’ve made in 20 years of spraying.
