Bit late on this one. However, Amazon Fire are available with or without adverts. Not sure whether you can pay extra to get rid of ads on an existing one, but I think so.
The children’s padded case really does ruggedise the Fire.
It can be easily hacked to work with Amazon’s Play Store or whatever they call it today.
It is relatively cheap but all that the OP really needs, especially if the primary app is used through a browser. I use mine with Farmwizard herd management software and I can use it through Chrome when there is a wi-fi signal and with its mobile app when not, which can be synchronised with the Cloud version when in wi-fi range.
Can’t claim to use it much, as I prefer to use my desktop for business plus the iPad for a bit of everything, so have little need for outdoor use.

I got a couple of Amazon Fire tablets for the kids and whilst they started fine, they quickly slowed down.
They don’t have much memory either.
Also, you can’t use the Google Play store, it has to go through the Amazon App Store which is limited and I doubt Greenlight will be on there
You can put the Google play store on a kindle fire, there’s a workaround for it, I’ve got one in my spray tractor for spray records, however it’s pretty slow and clunky, fine for the kids to watch Netflix etc.

I have one of these in our feed mill with a SIM card, it’s survived the dust and damp for 18 months and only costs a few quid a month. http://www.three.co.uk/tablets/samsung/galaxy-tab-A7-lite?featuretab=Design

Bits of paper never crash
we just duplicate gate keeper spray sheets , yes twice as many to fill in but he keeps one and one in office
every thing else goes in a day diary and have my own too every thing every day goes in diary ,
the worst writing is better than the best memory
every drill or fert calibration is recorded settings etc
little drawings where drains etc are
don’t need the ipad or that shite

I would rather use a cheap tablet than be printing out possibly hundreds of sheets of paper a month with your method.
do you then fill in gatekeeper from the sheets aswell?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
