We supply free software with the AWR300 to bring data recorded onto your computer. The AWR300 and lower cost AWL200 can also be used with our full flock management software, Select Sheepware. We have completed a number of Tag ie imports recently and can do this for anyone wanting to try out Select Sheepware free of charge for one month. Download the free trial from http://www.tgmsoftware.com/sheeptrial/sheeptrial.htm Hope this helps

Hi!
Are people still using their Tag-ie's? I was just getting into using it but had quite a few questions. I rang Bob and he answered a few but said he'd get back to me about the others and never did! I then went away travelling and now I'm back I feel like I'm back to square one learning how to use it again, went to look for his number and found the website had disappeared! I don't think its the easiest thing to use and mine seems to do some strange things as well. I think the software program is quite confusing too! Before we got a reader I was keeping lots of record manually on an Excel sheet. It was time consuming but the info was useful. I feel like I'm going backwards in recording terms with the Tag-ie!

Do you think they will take mine as a trade in?

And mine, if I can’t get the disc to load and sort out the software.
It came with a download and that failed when the owner of TagIE did a runner to Black Isle. Software chap then demanded a ransom to get the thing to work. Now he seems quiet.
Bob sent me the disc, but I’ve yet to try it.

Memo to self. Try the damned thing before you need to use it. And don’t get caught like this again.

Still using ours, I never got to bother with much in the way of records, beyond a flock inventory, beyond that just use it to read, mark dead or sold, antibiotics, and print a list to go with a licence , think i'll keep going until it stops then worry about it, I did get it to talk to the weigh crate, not sure where that got me though.

We've had a tagie2 reader since it was launched at the Sheep event at Malvern, many years ago, Bob has always been amazing customer services. We bought a Zetor model rather than a John Deere, but it still works and give us useful information. Software never really worked well enough, but for a cheap reader which can weight record, record scanning results and record lambing information its great. You get what you pay for.

No data recording here, except tags of store lambs when they're sold. So this was ideal for that job.
The sheep are kept in the batches (flock numbers ) they came in with and spray marked. So any meds records are easy. No progeny - we hope.

14 days on and I've just loaded Bob's disc. There were no instructions with it. Just Tag ie4. on it. There's a few grumblings from the 'puter, but nothing has appeared on the PC screen?
Any idea wot I'm doing wrong folks?
I'm running W 10 on Firefox on the office desk top. I use that and then print off the store lamb batches when ready to move. Or used to.

Neil @ Farm Matters is awful quiet too.

Frustrated in Cornwall. :scratchhead::banghead:

their was a thing or 2 that had to be done on w10 to get going ...Bob talked me through it once but i cant rember now, will see if i can find the manual ...that wont help fire up the pc though.....

or would @Philip Watkins know how get it to recognise/except the disc ?

I've deleted the old TAGie 'install' stuff and the Farm Matters link in the imported memory on this machine and tried again. But no joy. Have I left something in there that FM blocked that 'free' software with? Drivers?

I sound as if I know what I'm talking about, but it's all smoke and berluddy mirrors. :(

The new box was built by a local chap who whizzed me through how to load the Tag ie4 disc. But he didn't know then that there were four (at least) installation labels on the memory. It's those that I have now deleted.
It makes me wonder if FM have blocked all the software, not just their own downloads.

Computer is not a year old yet and the chap who built it, very helpful. I may have to take it (and the disc) in... before I wreck something in its innards.

Trouble is those computer people go/explain it to fast and expect us to follow ..

A simple straight forward strong chip reader with enough memory and an ability to link to an ordinary inkjet printer by cable if need be ....which most have indoors..is all a lot would require surelyshouldnt be more than 200 hundred quid or so at the most...

Sorry to read about your troubles with the Tag-ie4 @matthew something we can sympathize with as the collapse of Tag-ie has left us several thousand of pounds out of pocket.

While I can't speak about the Tag-ie disc as this is not something we were involved with I can clear up a few points regarding the Farm Matters Tag-ie software.

• Tag-ie is (was) a completely different company and nothing do with Farm Matters Ltd.
• The deal when buying a Tag-ie4 was that it included a free one year subscription to the Farm Matters Tag-ie software which allowed communication with the Tag-ie and a simple holding register. After the first year the subscription did cost a mere £30 a year, which it turns out people didn't want to pay, or you would need to use the basic Tag-ie disc.
• The Farm Matters software will run but notify you that it is blocked as no subscription has been paid, however we certainly do not block any other software including the Tag-ie disc

Working with Tag-ie has unfortunately left a sour taste in our mouth and a very large hole in our pocket, while the Farm Matters Tag-ie software has now been deprecated as people did not want to take up the subscription we do continue to support the Tag-ie4 in our full Farm Matters software. Again while we understand your frustration, it might be better directed at Tag-ie rather than Farm Matters.

Neil would be delighted to speak to you on 0191 3000 189

£30 a year does not sound excessive if it enables you to access some software that is not a nightmare to get to grips with. Which is what the Tag-ie software was.
