Teagle topper problem

Sample pic, for a full oil change. Drain it out through plug marked with yellow arrow. Stick some hose or tubing in there and run into waste oil container. You will need to undo the filler plug (blue arrow) to help the oil flow out. Best to do it when the gearbox is warm. Don't burn yourself!

I thought you were taking the pee when you said about putting the sight glass thingy in!

Could well be, rep on looking at shaft said their was 3 types for it had names with amount of splines? Can't remember them sorry, ours was the heaviest.
Doesn't have a shear bolt or slip clutch, just belts and these don't even slip
It's been on both 8340s and a case gets hot on all.

Your want paying to take it @Thick Farmer :)

Swan vistas?

I'll take it for free!

He means Swan Vestas (matches). These are my standard cure for all machinery problems. :)

Sure is, thank you for your help though,
By the way, was a good year ago I asked for help with the 8340, @Mursal had a drive problem? You surgested a dodgy fuse stopping its drive, it's worked ever since by the way

You need a beefier PTO shaft to transmit the same power at 540 than at 1000, or put another way the same shaft will handle far less power at 540 than at 1000. The heavier duty machines tend to run 1000 boxes. Still doesn't explain 7 shafts going like that...

Edit: were all 7 shaft failures the same; gearbox side UJ fail?

Just a thought but what oil are you using to top up with? I know you've had problems with it from new and would expect the box to have had the right stuff in it to start with but ep90 is normally used. Just thinking if you use 85w 140,the oil gets thicker as it gets hotter. Wouldn't that therefore create even more heat? Only mentioning as I'm using 85w140 in the bed of an old disc mower as it leaks less with it in it! It gets noticably warmer than it did with 80w90. not saying it's your problem but might be a contributary factor?

Just seen this and I have just picked up my third shaft for out tms 250. Just 2 seasons old and this last PTO the plastic cover melted as well. I am trying to work it that it doesn't lift very high to reduce angle and dealer said grease more often.Think the ptos were £140ish but that's not the genuine ones
