£2600 banked, and it's fair to say the used portion of the generated leccy would have been worth £400 or so. So, I did factor it in, but not with an unrealisitic value.

Re having my £170k 7yr Tier 1 return from a 200 kW boiler scoffed at...

1314hrs x 200kw x 10.14p (the present RHI rate for a 2014 installation)
= £26648 per annum.

x 7yrs = £186,500

x20yrs = £532960.

are your figures from NI?

my boiler was commissioned in 2012, so 2 yrs before yours. I am yet to be paid that sort of rate / kwh, when I started it was 8p either way.

I don't disagree though, they do pay a lot but the early bird catches the worm.

I was one of the first few hundreds to be commissions in the UK and to say that OFGEM were learning on the job was an under statement. They didn't like our grain store having vents in it because it was going to let the warmed (and thus damp) air out!!

I doubt your figures are a bit out to say the least.
99kw boiler Tier 1 at 1.7p up to 1314hrs = £2211.46 per annum
Tier 2 at 0p = £0.00
Renewable Heat Incentive for non-domestic customers | nidirect
A lot of people on here haven't a clue as usual and are relying on media hype and hearsay to give substance to their opinions. Since starting this thread I have laid back and read the usual mis-informed diatribe.

half the confusion is some of us are talking about non NI numbers I think.

In England for a 2012 sub 200 kwh system they are paying about 10p / kwh today. this has crept up from 8p I think back then.

The scheme was just too generous. When applicants could get an incentive payment of £400 for every £130 of pellet they set fire to it's no surprise a few chancers jumped on the bandwagon to rinse it for all it was worth.

A more sensible regime might have disincentivised fossil fuels and given enough subidy to make the investment in renewable plant the smart thing to do. If there was some mechanism in place to ensure that renewably produced energy was, say 2p/kwH cheaper than LPG for 20yrs, then that should have been enough of an incentive to get the plant, but not enough of one to encourage crooks to heat empty buildings.
Can you supply any evidence to support the empty buildings line as to date no-one has been found guilty or prosecuted for such an offence and all installations have been audited. Please supply proof, should be easily found if it is such common knowledge.

In my original post I did not name the GB scheme and @Fogg and others have taken upon themselves to cast aspirations on participants of the NI scheme. We are fed up of being blamed for it, we broke no law and have suffered losses of millions collectively due to mis management by civil servants and politicians.

agree there. Not your fault they didn't have a T2 which is, from what I can see, the main reason why it went belly up, is it not?

Yes, partly correct. The bodies in charge did not manage the rate in relation to the applications either or audit prospective sites, basically they done nothing to regulate it. This led to the whole scheme getting away from them and out of control.

I wasn't implying everyone on the scheme was abusing it, and apologise if I gave that impression.

"A few chancers" was never meant to mean every boiler owner in NI. Still, I can appreciate why it's a contentious issue for you. I should have chosen my words more carefully. Sorry.

Very honourable of you to say that and I apologise if I seemed to be coming on a bit strong but you have to understand we have been vilified in the press and by the public over this and truth be told it has put some honest men to the wall.
