Ah, yes & I'm not really one to bleat on but this has come from a farming friend who I respect and have known for 56 years. Can someone answer my Q in that Sainsburys are marketing something from 1000+ miles distant when there's producers just down 't road who have the same and certainly better quality available. Or in truth do they not???Our first Brexit thread for months.
Everything to do with BREXIT methinks.....This is free-trade.......If you can't get this onto Sainsburys shelves from UK producers then there's something really wrong with the system.......Been mentioned many, many times on this forum British farmers have an opportunity to step up with their very best produce.....

Ah well, if you say so. I'll leave it at that then. And it’s got fudge all to do with brexit.
Dunno. But nowt new. I was driven out of early organic potatoes in the early 2002 because of imports from Israel. I gave up producing organic grain in 2013 due to merchants claiming they could source cheaper imports from Poland. Supermarkets will / have always shafted us by buying cheap sh!te. Blame it on Brexit if you want. In that case Brexit has been ongoing since 1980........Ah, yes & I'm not really one to bleat on but this has come from a farming friend who I respect and have known for 56 years. Ok fair enough. Those Israeili potatoes are the only potatoes currently available in our local co-op. And dare I say it, they're just so much nicer than the locally produced items......Except our own which ran out at Christmas.Dunno. But nowt new. Completely agree on the 'standards' and this is what makes me upset in that this is what we NEED to bellow out is the standards that UK producers are the highest! Also the gas-milage is bonkers. Imagine the base cost in Poland and add all the middle-men mark-ups.In theory brexit could make it more tricky to do than it would be while firmly in the Eu , in theory but obviously it won’t be .
secondly I’m not happy about it because their are a few questions about standards I want a level playing field.
We export a lot so in theory if the imported meat standards are same as ours we have no leg to stand on but are the standards the same or higher or lower ? Hmmmm
You've just pee'd on his fire.Is Poland in the EU ?
perhaps the thread title should be "the reality of being in the EU"You've just pee'd on his fire.

There have been no Brexcit free trade deals done, this is Polish meat coming in under old EU rules, this is why you voted for Brexcit to stop this.Everything to do with BREXIT methinks.....This is free-trade.......If you can't get this onto Sainsburys shelves from UK producers then there's something really wrong with the system.......Been mentioned many, many times on this forum British farmers have an opportunity to step up with their very best produce.....
