The Wildlife Trust: Dial 999 if you see anyone (neighbour or farmer) trimming a hedge after Thursday

"The Wildlife Trust suggests people check their hedge both from a distance, using binoculars, and up close.

The body is also urging you to report on neighbours, farmers or landowners who are brazenly breaking the rules and recklessly cutting their hedges by reporting them to the police for investigation by a Wildlife Crime Officer or calling 999 if necessary."

Quick Google shows 1981 wildlife act hedge trimming rules are if there is a bird's nest. How the flying can you tell if there is a bird's nest from binocular distances unless you have been watching the hedge for a fair while, in which case why phone the police emergency number when sharing of your knowledge (talking) with the person cutting the hedge saves public/Police money and builds community?

This is an antisocial attitude from the Wildlife Trust. Is it not society that provides their funding?

You ought to report him. You don't want the blame when somebody notices that one side off your hedge has been trimmed presumably by you.:ROFLMAO:

Wildlife Trusts are getting a bit hoitty toitty under their current CEO. Was a time when they were happy managing their reserves and making applications for funding.
It`s all the bloody exposure they get on Countryfile.
Boils my pee, the implication is no good work can be done without a Wildlife Trust.
Totally ignore all the work done on farms every day,

I look forward to a visit. I have someone coming out on Monday to cut a roadside hedge. Their trimmer broke and so could not do it this week! I will check that over the weekend a bird has not made a nest! :)

Can't stand that lot. They're grifting plenty of taxpayers dosh for managing reserves on behalf of local authorities in the south, and from what i've seen they're doing very little for the money. If anything their lack of real management on the ground has led to increases in wildfires, the big fire on Chobham Common a few years ago being a direct result of the WT doing naff all to manage the fuel load.
