if staying open in a pandemic is so vital to these businesses why havent they installed big ventilation or air purifying systems, theyve had nearly 2 years to get their act togetherWe do not live in the dark ages anymore!
The problem is that people like yourself who are very wealthy/ retired are not affected by businesses like pubs/ nightclubs being shut and lockdowns being implemented yet if you were 50 years younger and were affected you would be thinking the total opposite of what you currently do.
So the coming of night clubs is the equivalent of the Enlightenment
Taking simple precautions, masks, distancing and whatever vaccinations are available is just an easy way to lessen the effects of this virus.
Sadly so many cannot bother to take the smallest of precautions that means the virus can spread so quickly ensuring that the government has to take these sort of steps to protect those idiots who are too f***** lazy or ignorant to get the jab
My understanding is that the vaccine won't stop you getting covid but that it would reduce the severity of the illnesses caused by covid. This means less hospitalisation and less death. There has never been a successful vaccine for a coronavirus, for the same reason there has never been a vaccine for the common cold, the viruses mutate too fast for any vaccine program to ever keep up, plus the human immune system cannot be reprogrammed for new variants that easily.
This vaccination program is doomed to fail also, badly, it could end up making things worse. We are going to have to do what the human race has done from time immemorial with regards to new respiratory viruses that emerge - let it rip through the population and those with the healthiest immune systems will survive. There is no alternative, however much the pharmaceutical companies tell you if you just take their 29th booster vaccine it'll all be over. The only way its over is to let nature take its course. Eventually it will mutate into something akin to a cold.
For example its now considered that the global flu epidemic of 1889/90 was in fact caused by a coronavirus called OC43, which is still endemic today. Only now if you get it you get a cold, its mutated over the last 130 years from something that killed an estimated 1 million people (out of a global population of 1.5bn) to a mild illness that bothers no-one, other than those at deaths door already. If that episode is anything to go by it would take maybe 5-6 years for covid to mutate into something less virulent and fatal, as there were recurring waves of deaths from 1889 until 1895, presumably by that point the virus either had become far less fatal, or it had killed all the most vulnerable and everyone else had immunity, or a bit of both. Possibly that process could be faster today as global travel means diseases spread much more quickly.
Unfortunately, this might not be the case for some covid variants. There has never been a successful vaccine for a coronavirus, for the same reason there has never been a vaccine for the common cold, the viruses mutate too fast for any vaccine program to ever keep up, plus the human immune system cannot be reprogrammed for new variants that easily.

Xmas presents? Stocking fillers?I ordered 100 today, they’ll be delivered tomorrow
I’m not vaccinated. I’ll roll the dice with COVID rather than have the vaccine. My understanding is that the vaccine won't stop you getting covid but that it would reduce the severity of the illnesses caused by covid. This means less hospitalisation and less death.
Your method of letting it rip would end up with overwhelmed hospitals and unnecessary deaths.
No vaccine is 100% effective.
Vaccines can have bad side effects for a small %age of people.
Do you risk getting covid and find out you're one of the ones with hitherto unknown underlying health issues? Or do you accept the risks and have the jabs?
Just for balance. I am vaccinated and agree. I hope the vaccines do indeed prove to be harmless but I don't think we're getting the whole truth on the matter.I’m not vaccinated. I’ll roll the dice with COVID rather than have the vaccine.
You could say the same about electricity and running water, just beacuse people didn't have them a couple of hundred years ago.How did people manage without night clubs for all of millennia until the last 20 years?
To suggest they are invaluable to society is ludicrous
Sadly you can, people tend to take more risks if they think something is going to protect them.Airbags in cars is another example.I still , whenever i am in town, or about to enter a place where there will be more than a handful of people, rub some antiseptic gel on my hands
and give my nose/face a wipe before getting out of the car. Stick with the basics - and you cannot go wrong.
Genuinely wish you good luck with that. Why won't you get the vaccine?I’m not vaccinated. I’ll roll the dice with COVID rather than have the vaccine.
Shocking that you think it so funny that people who own/work in nightclubs etc may lose their businesses/ jobs/ home etc.
As for the jab, take a look at Devon Live, two news articles on there in the last week alone of two inquests of people who died as a direct result of having the covid jabs! and both were young and healthy before having the jabs, one is a young mother who leaves 3 kids!
And you say people who do not want the jab are lazy or ignorant!!
Yes home schooling was testing and very detrimental to children s education. From what cherubs have said not a lot of folk did much home schooling, which going forward has made teachers jobs more difficult as vast differences in where pupils are at has occurred. Fingers crossed for their education. After the cluster of first lockdown and then this jan to Mar it will be a bloody disaster for the kids. Took us months to get our 9yr old back on track and trying to work at the same time As coordinating 9+hrs of kids zoom lessons a day is a none starter.
Had a week of home schooling last week after a positive PCR.Yes home schooling was testing and very detrimental to children s education. Yes, spot on. My 12 year old son's rugby games have been cancelled the last couple of weeks as contact sports for young people shut down as a precaution. Meanwhile, at Hampden Park...The thing is pubs/clubs and nightclubs are not essential. Big concert in Glasgow on Sunday night,Deacon Blue playing the SECC 15000 attending , Cup final in Hampden on Saturday,10s of thousands there but we are limited to maximum of three households mixing. There is some seriously mixed up thinking going on.
I feel that your last couple of lines are very unfair and unjustified, and a blinkered stereotype of certain sectors of society. So the coming of night clubs is the equivalent of the Enlightenment

Population control ? That would be compulsory wearing of condoms wouldn’t it?Utter rubbish, Nearly ALL studies show masks do not work!
And if masks did work then why has Scotland and Wales had such high case numbers all summer when it was law you had to wear a mask?? whilst in Britain you did not have to wear a mask and case numbers dropped dramatically!
Mask wearing is all about making scared people like you feel safe and to keep the covid narrative in the minds of everyone each and every day! its all about population control ref wearing masks, even the UK Gov admitted that in the summer!
