So last year I strongly suspected that there was not a full 3l in the last thistlex i used, but not having the full contents to hand (used most of it and seemed short) it was impossible to check but as I got to the end I seemed short. i carefully measure the contents into the sprayer with a jug so I know I get the right mix.

Ive got a new one this year and having used the last of the last lot I had a spare container!

So i carefully measured the contents into a jug and decanted them into the old container, exactly 2.8l

anyone else experienced this the jug i used is a good quality plastic one with what i believe to be accurate measurements'.

Also worth noting this is not the first product ive had 'short' got 9l in a 10l tub of mcpa a few years ago, they replaced that no issues direct from manufactured.

Ive contacted the manufacturer and they are investigating, I said I'm happy to open a new one with the carrs rep and measure it out, if its the full 3l them i will take/buy it. if it is the full 3l look like i need a new jug :ROFLMAO:

Anyone else got a fresh one they fancy checking? happy to put up batch numbers.

Ive had a quick mess around a rifled some jugs im allowed to permanently steal from the kitchen, the initial jug does under read ever so slightly but but would still make the 3l short but by around 140ml  maybe this is with tolerance

If you use 20l drums of oil, then when you open on a flat surface some are fill close to cap, some level is 3" down.

Have I had a little extra free in one or short changed in the other.

Underfilling does happen. Maybe more often than we think.
Some years ago Bravo was delivered across the industry with only 4.5lt in a can! I think everyone was recompensed. Reps said it works just as well at 0.9 as 1.0!
Would trading standards be interested?

presuming thistle x is the same density as water
It wouldn’t be but weighing them would be a good way to catch the odd cheeky one that’s for sure. It’s a 3ha can so many just tip it in a 600l sprayer and trot on….. wouldn’t notice you’d been short changed.

It's density could easily be worked out though with a 50 ml syringe and digital scales

Carrs have brill service but I’ve noticed that this last year they are taking the pee with prices comparable to others. Shop around

I did consider weight being a good way to do it, will have to see if I’m allowed the kitchen digital scales 😂
Borrow the kitchen scales, put your measuring jug on and tare the scales, add a litre of water and it should be 1kilo.
Course if it's not you wont know if it's the scales or the jug.

That’s the thing @Lazy Eric they do offer good service but you expect a discount on volume ordering,

last price on marking fluid I could go into their shop as a member of the public and buy it for same price (checked their website) surely spending thousands a year with them justifys some sort of trade discount certainly does for everyone else I use 🤔
