TMR for ewes

Feeding tmr. 0.5kg blend 0.2kg liquid feed 0.05kg ultra soy for twins 3weeks before we started lambing. A little more for triplets and less for singles. Silage is good quality. Most ewes have got plenty of milk but get some that don’t (even though they’re fat) So have to feed around 30% of the lambs that are born every day. Most are ok by the next day but others I have to take one lamb off.
Is it normal to be feeding this many lambs?

How dry is your silage? Clamp or bales? Are you putting any cereals in? At least with tmr you can tweek things easily the system really does take some beating. No feeding that number is not normal must be very hard work

Silage is about 38% dry matter. All bales. There are cereals in the blend. Yeah didn’t think it was normal? I don’t have to feed many with colostrum, but a lot of milk.

I think the silage could be too dry to get good intakes. Give me a ring if you want to chat about what we have found. Pm me if you want my number
