just been bucketing out fert. from ton bags in to a tow and fert sprayer and thinking there has to be a better way

the tow and fert is on 3 point linkage so can't load with tractor and only have one tractor

so any ideas for a stand alone hopper set up I could dump a bag in to then have it auger it in to spreader needs to be self contained
have a old fert spreader that the belt and spinners buggered on it that could be converted whit a hydro pack to drive a small auger

Our Loader tractor broke down the other day, didnt matter that I was spreading at the time as weve got a bag crane, best next thing since sliced bread I reckon. Safe and higher lift than a foreend loader.

Pictures would obviously help.

Bag lifter crane no good?
Hitches to tractor 3 point, then fert spreader hitches to it. Puts weight a little further back though

Yes or a mobile gantry on wheels that would could hang bag up on.

Some onemade a frame or gantry type hanging frame off a trailler iirc
Course, still need something to control the flow if you only need part of the bag at a time

Yeah not so good for steep ground and capital Costs more as well I guess

can mount a hiab Crane on the spreader has a mounting point on 3 point frame so fill up bags with amount needed per full loads mainly 1/2 ton then back up to bags to lift but then added weight on hills

seen a few set ups in Ireland for this sort of thing....there's this sort of frame...looks safe...also a frame where you'd hang the bags from and reverse under

would need to be quite a high frame to get under
worrying thing is seen on a site under health and safety there is a bit of talk about ton bags being. stoped the site was a outfit making hopper buckets tho
maybe coveting older. fert spreader in to a chaser bin might not be a dumb idea holds about 3 ton

strange question is there still ton bags in the uk or only 1/2 ton bags as per my above post under health and safety ton bags maybe on the outer.
any hows talked to a mate and thinking. a plastic hopper with a auger under it maybe around 1.3-1.8 cube meter hopper petrol motor belt driven with a slide on bottom of hopper to shut off flow ... cheep 2nd auger thats been damaged that we can get 12-14 foot out of old Honda motor off a buggered jetter or sprayer and Robert is mums bro

Hopper / conveyor / chaser sounds ideal as long as it can be cleaned out well after.

Here it Went from 500kg to 600kg which is standard bag now.they made them a bit bigger for the haulage industry.

Hiab would be over the top, a bag crane like we get here is simply like a engine crane but with telescopic action as well you just reverse the tractor / spreader into the bag loop then hoist up no swivelling action needed on the crane.
Ours is about 260kg adds about 2ft if lenght backwards to the whole implement and will lift up to a ton will fit any tractor cat 2 or 3 3 point linkage and then fits to implement 3 point ( female to male) with it's own short toplink) and just needs a corispondinhly longer PTO shaft.
You can use it on other implements or on it's own because of this .

We used to use a "hangman" sort of gallows arrangement at our dairy runoff, Pete, it was made of old power-poles. We just hung the bags on it with the FEL, then backed under them and undid/cut the bottoms of the bags.
Now they're mostly going to single-use bags which are quite a bit lighter duty, I wouldn't feel as good about going under them as the more robust old-style bags which were noticeably heavier bags.

Knife blade welded to a bit of pipe would be better IMO

To get seed into my airseeder, I just hoisted the bag into a big macrocarpa with an endless chain, again something the H&S people are there to prevent - for obvious reasons
