Too late for hybrid winter barley?

Hello
On some stiff heavy ground in West Midlands. I was planning on some Armadillo - not grown it before. Due to the weather, it’s not gone in yet but hoping that if it stays dry for a couple of days, it might go. Am I too late really? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yield potential is dropping by the day now, with winter barley. Yes, I think you'll be fine but you need to be 240 seeds/m2+ to get enough ground cover which makes the seed cost eye watering, for a limited yield potential. Just my opinion.

I'm at the point of abandoning winter barley - the fields I want to drill have standing or running water on them, so 2-3 weeks to dry out sufficiently. Mine is farm saved seed, so I can belt on 450 seed/m2 at a fraction of the cost of hybrid. These fields will probably go into sprig barley instead now. That means they won't be osr next year, but I'm working up a SFI application where NUM3 looks competitive against osr margins anyway.

Bonfire Night is the traditional cut off point for winter barley. After that you'd be better off with wheat or spring barley.

Thanks Brisel. Could have done without the 7 inches of rain since 21st September! I think my plan is that if I can go Sunday/Monday, I’ll put it in. After that, it will be spring 🤞🤞

@Brisel
200kg/ha seed ( dressed HSS )
GD drilled
1-2 off in the spring depending on how it’s come through winter and accelerating in the spring
250kg/ha N ( solid )
Harvest sometime in July depending on the year.
It’s our yielded the wheat last 4 years with the same treatment ( wheat gets a bit more N as milling )

I’m always curious to learn from anyone defying convention.

What do you mean by 1-2 off in the spring?
How many seeds/m2 is the rate please?

Well it rained yesterday, and the forecast is for another dose tonight so it’s game over. It’s high mag clay so it has a very short working window. Thank you for all the replies.
Ps. If anyone wants 7 packs of SY Armadillo, it’s available 😂😂😂
