Topcon GPS, & Leica base station?

It’s fine to use a couple of existing USB sticks if you’ve got one or two lying around. Just copy off and delete any other files on them before you use them here. Perhaps do a quick format of them using your PC.

If you haven’t got any existing USB sticks you can use, order some off Amazon for next day delivery, just don’t go crazy with the stick size - as your Topcon hardware is older it probably won’t be able to see some of the huge drives that are available now. If you stick to 4GB or 8GB drives you should be OK.

I think you said the base AGI-3, the RTK radio module and the GX-45 all came from different sources? If this is the case then it’s definitely a wise move to get the latest software loaded across everything - a little firmware version mismatch may be why you’re having difficulties. Sorry probably should have said to do this as soon as you got the harness to connect then.

That update page no longer exist.. It opens a page you have to sing in and register your product. I've tried that before and it won't accept my Serial Numbers. So I'm stuck. Waiting for Topcon Rep to get me more info.
edit: the X45 and the AGI-3 were a package, I added the RTK module. But The still need updates as they haven't been updated since New.

The link to the firmware version 2.14.05 is in my post #119 above. Here it is again...

http://agworld.cc/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/PCS150_V2.14.05_full_upgrade.zip

It’s a zip file. You need to extract the zip file on your computer - then copy the actual firmware file called rootfs.ext2 onto an empty USB stick and follow the upgrade procedure I linked in post #119.

OK just to be 100% crystal clear on this, the file you will download from the link above is called PCS150_V2.14.05_full_upgrade.zip This file is over 35 MB in size so may take a while to download if you have a slow internet connection.

Once it has downloaded to your computer, double click on the file to decompress it/extract it. The file that you will see is called rootfs.ext2 - it is this file which you need to copy to an empty USB stick and follow the firmware upgrade process.

I tried that site and it sends you to a different topcon site that doesn't accept my equipments SN. I may have found a different source from Ag equipment site, But am having issue's downloading, Usually my Broadband is the problem.. stay tuned..
edit: now your reply has posted.. Thanks.

The agworld.cc link above definitely works. I downloaded the v2.14.05 firmware zip file this morning (from Australia), and unzipped it - so the link is fine.

It is a large file though, so if your broadband is very slow it may take a while to download.

Yeah I got it downloaded last night. It didn't help my other laptop was uploading a program and my son was home too. will upload in x45 this morning. Wish me luck.
edit: I called my dealer to order some parts for the ASE electric steering kit, for a different tractor. Is it that difficult?
1. power cable, AGA 3240
2. AGA 3764 steering shaft adaptor for MF 7495
3. AGA 5296 wheel angle sensor kit.
Are these current part #'s ? is their part system that screwed up?

Good you got the firmware file.

When you apply the update it will erase all the previously stored settings etc. This is why they ordinarily get you to do the backup step first. However in your situation now, the backup probably won’t matter too much as you have nothing really saved, so you could actually skip the backup step.

After the update is successful, it’s only the GSM PIN and APN settings and NTRIP settings which you can re-enter to make sure they’re all correct.

In future when you actually have field maps etc stored it’s a good idea to make backups to USB every so often.

Sorry can’t advise on part numbers for harnesses and adapters. Your dealer is going to be best placed to tell you what you need.

How long will it take to upload? its been 20 minutes, still has red screen with logo.
On the parts, I did call my dealer and he said he had to call and get updated parts #'s. In this day and age it should only take a push of the button. I searched out this dealer because they still sell topcon units.

edit: 40 minutes now.

Update might take a while. Don’t disturb or press any buttons etc during the update. Just keep power applied and it will switch itself off when it’s finished.

After it’s powered itself off, only then should you power it back on. Once it’s booted, go to the Topcon status page to check the new firmware version is up to date.

Then once the GX45 has updated itself, do the update for the AGI-3 firmware from within the screen.

‘Tis late here now, so hope it goes well for you. With time difference, suggest if you get stuck, get in touch with your dealer to step you through any parts of the process.

I didn't unzip the file before downloading, so I'll check and see how to do that.

As per my earlier post above - the only file that you should copy to the (otherwise empty) USB stick to do the upgrade should be rootfs.ext2

When you uncompress the original zip file this is the file that comes out of the zip. It is about 50 MB in size.

:)

HALLELUJAH!!! HALLELUJAH!! HALLELUJAH, I was SUCCESSFUL!!! On to step 2, hope that doesn't take 2 days..
Thanks for the help, finally solved my computer issue, with no usb drive. Try another usb slot. I didn't know there were more on the left side. computer is 6 months old and not used much. I surf on my surface pro mostly. It did install software 2.14.05 now on to NVRAM reset. and install my tractor information. I guess my parts are on order. Yippee. I'll order the intuicom unit tomorrow.
Again Thanks for the help and patients with me.
Edit: what should I do next?
Force software flash to AGI-3? or NVRAM reset? I'll go back and read the previous posts.

Great stuff!

The next thing I would do is upgrade the AGI-3 firmware. You can try doing it ‘normally’ first (rather than force upgrading it) from within the “GPS Settings” screen, button labelled as C6 in the photo below.

Once that is done, I would then re-enter the GSM and NTRIP settings and try it again - at least try the SIM card in the AGI-3 before you go and order the Intuicom unit.

I'm still working on it, kind of on a roll now. I did the forced firmware update for the AGI-3 and It worked. here's a photo of the latest updates. Looks good.
Now do the NVRAM reset?
Time to make some brackets for the roof mount, Should it be centered (front to back) and (side to side) or towards the front like on a JD? This is going on a MF 7495 if anyone has some photo's that would be Great.. time for some sleep.
