hi, i am looking for a gps antenna to connect to a topcon x20. I was going to use a usb type one but there is no cd rom on the x20 to download the software. I have an old yara n sensor [the blue one] and there is no gps in it and i was hoping to get it up and going this season. i guess its very out dated now but as i have it i wanted to use it and see how it performs.

According to the (X20 guidance reference) manual, you can use pretty much any external GNSS receiver that connects via the RS232 interface. Just configure your GNSS receiver serial port first and match the settings on the X20.

If the external receiver needs correction data (RTK or such), you would have to feed that correction signal directly to the GNSS receiver, I don't think X20 can help there (just had a quick look at the manual though).

If you want tilt compensation, the receiver should have that integrated. If not, a cheap Ardusimple simpleRTK2B receiver would work fine in autonomous mode (or with SBAS) and you could even make it with RTK accuracy.

If you have an old X20. Try this, get some long nose plyers and slowly pull your fingers nails out one by one. It will be less painful than trying to keep the X20 going....
I DO NOT miss those old things!
