Well this is a frightening post from you Robt.... you make it sound like if criminals are aggressive enough the police can't deal with it what sort of message is this to give out to the general public. If there are 20 to 30 of you and you are aggressive enough the law doesn't apply to you, surely it's not beyond the wit of our modern day police force to have an armed flying squad that can be sent from central location to deal with this kind of situation especially if what you are saying is true, that the local police are too frightened to deal with it. After all the travelling community only behave like this because they know they can get away with it.
Did i say he was frightened? So dont miss quote me.
IF a group of young farmers got together in a crowd of say 500 they could cause mayhem for a few hours before order was resumed. We are not in a state that openly shoots first then asks questions... thank goodness!

My opinions on this matter are neither polite or politically acceptable.
The realist says that, if the police & dvla, can set up "traps" to catch folk without insurance etc then set one up outside such camps & impound/seize every vehicle that is possibly stolen or otherwise illegal.
And keep doing it......

Seize and crush their vehicles. Soon put a stop to that.

|Ok, ill admit i'm biased as my brother is a policeman. He also has a family so i am bloody glad he doesnt have to tackle pikies everyday. They think nothing of knifing. He has been stabbed twice (both times in the stab vest)
Id like to see some of the posters on here face a rabble of 20-30 somethings in full anger.... Its very easy to say the police are scared. Crime isnt like it used to be. Brother is happy to get in a scuffle but the days of scuffles are now knives and guns... would you fancy telling his wife and children he isnt coming home because he was ''hard'' and took on a pikie....
I'll bet that your brother is happy to accept a policeman's salary and the pension , holidays etc.
The police are allowed to meet fire with fire, as are the public so if knives and guns are involved the force should be suitably prepared.
Tell your brother to step down if he can't do it, with respect.

Sorry - but you sign up for that so lets not get into that defence mechanism.

You are supposed to uphold the law no matter what the situation - with backup if dealing with a crowd or Riot Police / Armed Response!!

Unfortunately, one of the biggest issues with the Police these days, is there are far too many Oompa Loompas in the service and Specials that could't even catch a cold.

I did face rabbles many times that number on several occasions in NI, in 'support' of the police...

If your brother says he isn't frightened he is either lying or daft. We agree regarding your last sentence.

Exactly right, some backbone from frontline police on the ground, their superiors in giving the orders - it's just enforcing the law! - and the same by the Courts will see the pikies pack it in.

The Police are to up hold law and order not to Decide or do what they like ?

Yes, quite right, and they can and should be sued for not doing so. They could also be prosecuted for not doing so, but show me a non-PC CPSer with any balls... See the other thread regarding the quality - ha! - of the police and their current selection criterion. The police, on the whole, are more interested in an easy life and being 'representative' than otherwise.

The laws are very biased in favour of the criminal element.Just look at the lot facing our solders who were acting under orders 50 years ago in Northern Ireland, and still being hounded by the " justice system " today. To much liberal elite running affairs in our country today .Things have got to change.Oh for a right wing government for a couple of decades to get the job sorted.

Properly right wing, not the slightly less left socialist Tories.

When we had a mass rave with a thousand or more attending a couple years ag
The riat police broke it up 23 vans of police went in and sorted then out
Pictures on utube claiming police brutality
Not the case as it looked like the police were using enough force todo the job
Some of The ravers were drugged up and would not stay down

20 years ago the new age travelers on average he same site were evicted after 6 months and 2 raves

Police can do it when they have to

The problem they need to be hard on all illegal encampments zero tolerance eliminates the problem at source

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
