More concerned that the wire ends might puncture the top sheet?
Does that not reduce there effectiveness? The wire is very fine and rusts away after a few years, when new cut they can pierce the sheet,I use secure covers and anywhere without a secure cover I put them on the other way up.

I would be putting them on top of clingfilm and black plastic.
Is there an issue with the wire ends breaking off?
Going to order a load of side walls, is there an other suppliers other than RWN
I think the irish firm you are thinking of is easyfix. we have hundreds of them. very easy to use and seem to do a good job quickly. no good on severe slopes though.I know the type of mat you mean, think an Irish firm sell them.
Tyre walls certainly aren't light,I think Bridgestone are the heaviest some Ching Chong ones are lighter.

You get strong lifting tyres during summer !Farms have been doing this for years. Always used to go throwing tyres over the clamp. Just be carefull with water in Them...
They are generally cheap (ish) and if you visit a scrap yard you may getthem cheaper with the offer to take them away.
Also tyre garages.
Just have to beat the horse people wanting shredded tyres for sand schools.
Tyre Bin or try Dumdee tyres based at Carlisle Airport that's where I got mineGoing to order a load of side walls, is there an other suppliers other than RWN
