This is what we're up against, people who don't question to themselves what they are looking at and go straight to social media. You would hope they would wonder how you get the calves in there and keep them in and then conclude they go in and out by there own free will. At least it demonstrates how much credibility they've got.

The fact that people see things like this and jump to irrational conclusions I can understand but, and without seeing the rest of the comments on this particular photo it is frustrating when an explanation of what’s happening is given but those with an agenda don’t accept an what is actually happening and carry on peddling their mischief.
Perhaps we should worry less, those who make the biggest noise on such issues are usually a vocal minority with an agenda and most folk will see the reality when given a proper explanation.
As the old saying goes, give them enough of rope and they’ll hang themselves.

I did have to shut down Facebook abruptly last night though when my blood pressure rose rapidly, I saw a post from my cousin and his daughter which was pro vegan, meat is bad for the planet.
Despite having strong farming connections, life outside of farming has obviously drastically changed his opinions so if you live in north wales, don’t expect any sympathy from a certain htv news reporter.☹️

Standing there and watching for 10 minutes, they’d probably see one come and go and realize they aren’t stuck.

Instead instant assumptions are made with not actual observation skills used.

How in earth did they come up with the idea it was some sort of feeder?
It's very obvious from the picture that is one of the new scrum trainers for cattle, it helps them develop a interest in sport and keeps them healthy.
I have on occasion seen humans use a similar device in more muddy conditions and it never occurred to me to report it as cruelty.

Did you post explaining what was going on there? If not then you are as guilty of them for reaching for a forum to express your disgust. It's pretty obvious that the majority have no idea at all about farming, why would they? They're fed lies by a media who think they are right. A simple explanation would've sufficed. Let's hope they did indeed get up at dawn and go and see if the farmer had released them.

you need to read all of this they have a view on animal farming and it does not matter what the truth is they will never listen

Christine Mackay

He did not comment on restraining his animals. In fact he implied they were free to come and go even although the picture showed restraint was used. He used the excuse of heavy rain causing the feeder area to get muddy but the animals had been swapped over after it had got really muddy!
