A Horsch Joker would be nearest to the traditional carrier but something like the SImba Xpress is more similar to the X & XL versions

We have a Pro Forge Inverta Max from Agrilinc and it is an excellent bit of kit . Superb build and design . Don’t listen to all the it’s polish build blah blah blah crap .

I suppose it comes down to a combination is what size you want, what HP you have to pull it, how shallow you want to work and your budget.

I got a quote for a 4 metre Vaderstad carrier with crosscutter discs last autumn.

I still haven't recovered from the shock.

Look at twb jester we got one last year and was miles cheaper than the main brands but built stronger imo

There are plenty of eastern European build disks for less than half the price new. If they have the right bearings and built strong why would you go for the vad?

Had a 5metre carrier on hire, wasn’t very impressed. We’ve got a weaving 4 metre short disc! Great bit of kit!

Horses for courses. Lots of options out there. Just because one brand works for a neighbour doesn’t mean it will work in your situation.

Sometimes you pay for the name and other times you pay for a lot more. The choice is yours.

As someone who has never used any kind of short disc but looks at them quite carefully, a carrier looks like a press with discs on the front whereas most if not all the others look like discs with packers on IYSWIM.....
