I think the BBC. / media in general will just take this stupidity so far that everyone will just switch off to it

the more they bang on about it now the more of a none story it becomes maybe

I really don’t see McDonald’s closing down anytime soon - we are all getting over worried about something that I’m not sure matters ?

maybe, but....
I don't see the whole vegan thing as something to be worries about per se. More, it is the kick up the arse that UK agriculture needed to make everyone realise that you do have to promote your business and your product as being environmentally sustainable, because that is where the real arguments - and hence the money - are going to be won and lost.

TBF this isn’t a bad effort

But what I really don’t get is the need/wish to copy existing meat (& milk) products in some bizarre lookalikey
If they were confident in their lifestyle, they would come up with, and promote, new dishes

Turkey aside, why wouldn't you want to make your vegan products into sausages and burgers? They are a convenient shape and fit with existing products, buns etc.

Surely the terms “sausages” and “burgers” are rooted in people’s minds as meat products? Vegans need a point of differentiation albeit “veggie tubes” and “veggie patties” may not cut the organic and ethically sourced mustard

I think you are clutching at straws. Veggie burgers have been around for decades.

But things are changing, and rapidly.
Consumption of the products you mention are falling, there is a strong move away from the traditional meat based diet, ok not perhaps for everyone but people under say 35 and younger are well on board.
This whole "beyond meat" deal is huge, ignore it at your peril.

why worry ? they still need to eat the same amount of Kcal each day

can’t see it myself though - I think a small minority are just very good at making a lot of noise

I find it amazing that when the NFU say nothing they get chastised by members and non members, when the complain to the media, they get chastised for giving the vegans etc more air time.

Don't seem to be able to win either way!

thing is if you are going to complain you have to get your facts straight

you can’t complain about someone saying poultry has lower carbon footprint than beef if that is true !

correct me if I’m wrong but farmers grow turkeys as well as beef / lamb ? Why does it matter what people want to eat as long as they do eat one of us is supplying it

the fight should be against pointlessly importing food we can produce in this country not Uk food vs Uk food surely ?
