Hi all looking for some help... Put some grass seeds in about a month ago, coming up well but so are the weeds..... Spoken to my agronomist & he says there's no sprays on the market now that won't harm the clover... So I'm stuffed. Any ideas....?

Will it harm the grasses being so soon grazing it....? Will they rip the whole grass plant out the ground....?

What sort of weeds and what are you going to do with the grass?

Any docks, thistles and you're going to graze with cattle, silage or hay it then I'd spray and fudge the clover. Put it back in later if you really want it. Sheep will sort docks but thistles will give the lambs orf.

If the seed bed is dry/firm enough run the mower over set on the high side? My Krone can have skids fitted to raise it to pasture topping height. If I didn't want chemicals or there were none available I'd mow it like a lawn till the grass out-competed the weeds. It may even encourage a thicker sward.
Some years back I ploughed and reseeded a field that came up like a crop of dead nettle. It looked a disaster but a couple of 'lawn mowings' got it back in great shape.

Did 2 reeseeds here in May, both riddled with weeds... we mowed it and chopped it and it was back in 4 weeks time a big strong 1st cut level of grass with not a weed in sight
