Welger vs McHale

Problem could be more to do dealer than welger.
I would have to agree with you! When I worked for a welger dealer there was always at least one of each roller in stock over 3 depots even more of the common ones around the chamber of the roller bakers there could be one or two at each depot along with all the brgs, sprockets and most other parts! Was a very rare occurrence the Baler wouldn’t be repaired the same day.

Had some trouble last year with my Claas 355 on a really hot day in chaffy barley straw, had a couple bales burst open so put more wrap on, then a couple times the bale started slipping in the chamber, it happens sometimes but 99.9 % of the time its fine
interesting comments on the net wrapper on claas balers and running with the top open, I have had a 250 two 255's and the 355 and never had much hassle
Have a 355 also and the net wrap never fails really , only trouble I had was when I didn't use TAMA net , tried Novatex and end up giving it away to a neighbour , no amount of different brake settings would fix it . But stick with TAMA and it bales and nets anything put in front of it .
Not also convinced door locks make for a better shape bale in all cases , my previous Duetz Fahr /vicon/greenland had locks and made awful shape bales and would never bale dry straw .
Just put a new cartridge in the door lock valve on my Claas and I notice it holds the pressure for days after I have removed the baler, previously it went down in a minute or two , so hopefully will make better bales again

That’s the way it should be ?

Welger have/had a great guy working for them from north of England.

Can't remember his name now! But he was really helpful and always tried to find a solution to any problems you had.

I use starnet which I think is novatex and it runs fine

I would think just about any of the latest models of variable chamber Baler should put more in a bale than a fixed chamber!!
They should, but some variable chamber balers struggle with higher moisture crops

The Krone belt and slat can make a solid bale out of everything from shattered straw dust, to sodden wet grass leaf

Fixed chamber perhaps a wee bit faster and easier to operate? They should also be cheaper to purchase?

I just like that I can go up a row alongside another baler, and despite the hype, the noisy eccentric designed Krone goes further up the swath before it needs to net the bale ??

Going back a while now but Jim Hunter was really good, he came out to the field and got me going when I had a welger 435.
Learnt everything I know about welger balers from Jim! What he didn’t know about them wasn’t worth knowing, had a few obscure problems that he was able to diagnose over the phone! I think he still does the same job with agco but not 100% sure!

Harry was main tech guy in Uk, moved to New Zealand and took up the same position over there!

Is he not further up the tree now? I'll ask Wayne next time I speak to him

Saw a lad using a krone belt baler last year. Burst bales galore he was bailing horrible short straw but still should of been better

Place I bale straw at .the head tractor man always comments on my bales.says there the tidiest an heaviest.mines a vicon others that bale on the farm are McHale, welger an John Deere all belt balers.

I ran both welger 245 and fusion side by side both balers take same amount of grass to make a bale but welger is smaller in size because of door latches. Also welger definitely better picking grass I run two fusions now because I needed to go combi route but my two welger 245 had 160000 bale between them and Still were in great order when I sold them and made good money aswell
