Fair comment. Stripper headers aren't that common over here. Much higher grain losses & until recently we haven't had much of choice of seed drills that can cope with a thick crop of flat straw. There are a few about still for growers of grass seed & the odd no tiller.

How do the Aussies cope with stripper header losses I’m just curious, maybe they accept loses like their rugby:whistle:

The yellowing of the leaf margins and tips suggest N defeiency, the leasions on the leaf could be chemical damage. Barley is susceptible to N stress in dry seasons where there is a high amount of soil trash ie chopped straw. Soil microbial organisms feast on the chopped straw rather than mineralising soil N effectively locking up the N. The patches near the trees could indicate drier land due to the tree roots, or a higher trash concentration due to higher straw yield, greener straw at harvest etc. Should grow away from it.

From what ive seen barley can have a hard time swapping from seed energy to root supplied nutrient, seems to occur at 2 leaf, so if green areas are at 3 leaf id wait to see what it does. My crop was tiger stripped with yellow all over, was all related to growth stage, 2 leaf yellow well into 3 leaf was green. Of course the drier sandier areas showed it it worse, around trees as well. It all greened up.

we fitted row cleaners to the 750a as well to help with wheat into oats and always bales oat straw - I think its made a notable difference, you have to keep white straw crop residue away from the seed IMO
Where did you get your row cleaners from and since you switched to zero/CA have you left the stubble height higher than with min till?

That got everything bar the kitchen sink!
Hows it looking?
Kitchen sinks were to expensive
Looking better, though still not as good as I would hope, its had 375kg/ha of 16-15-15-6 SO3 about 2 weeks ago and a good slug of Manganese, copper and zinc about 3 weeks ago. Only had our first proper rain, since all that went on, on Sunday so I'll go look at it tomorrow and get a photo to see how its doing. Think it needed the rain!

Pics taken this morning.
First from the headland that looked the worst over winter.

2nd from middle of the field. Still a bit of a yellow tinge to it all but that seems to be the older leaves.
