Please help identify wheat disease. I only have this one picture. Was in the rush to finish harvesting.
This was winter wheat after OSR. Quite a lot of rain during the summer. Grain in these affected ears were shriveled and lightweight. I don't think much of it ended up in the tank. Overall it made milling wheat.
Thanks.

We had quite an intensive rainy period at flowering. So I went ahead and sprained "head and shoulders" spray bit too early, some ears were flowering, some were just emerging. Anyway I am happy with the wheat, it was record yield for me and good quality. I was wondering if could do something different or just accept that nature takes its toll.
Thanks for your replies.

BYDV is my take on it. Have seen a number of times. BYDV doesn’t usually show itself in wheat until the ear begins to fill.
The green ears are usually a bit slimmer and sometimes have a purple tinge.
They never fill properly and have a few small seeds in them.
The black is just secondary infection by sooty mould.
