Where are the volunteer cereals

Even after early harvested winter barley the fields are mostly white, some greenery on the headlands.

It has now rained enough here to get them and some Blackgrass to grow.
Will be starting Direct drilling as from Saturday and will be giving the stubbles a blast of Roundup the day before.

barley cut the best ever for us, but a bit of green stuff coming now it's rained.

That’s a good point.
I was seeing lots of slugs on wheat ears from the middle of July onwards. I never thought I’d see them as a benefit for clearing up volunteers, so ‘every cloud can have a silver lining’ of sorts.
