Which Tedder

Hi I am looking to get a Tedder in the offseason. I saw an add on Done Deal for a Lely Lotus Stabilo 520 I think (could be 600 4 rotor) and I was just wondering if they are any good. I would only be doing about 25 acres a year and I’m not sure is it worth it to but a new malone for €8,900.
Can you change the tines so it dosent throw the grass into the wall?
Thanks

Looks like a 520.
I've got a 460 and I'm more than happy with it, was definitely a big upgrade from the haybob. The tines are adjustable on at least one rotor and moving the tines stops them throwing the grass as far.

The Malone is worth every penny compared to buying second hand in my opinion I’ve had three used 6 rotor tedders and bought a new 4 rotor Malone this year it’s a pleasure to work and actually works quicker than our krone 6rotor.

Quoted £7000, for a new 4 rotor Malone, few days later i seen a 2006 4 rotor Lely sell at auction for £5700+commission, i.m.o it made the Malone look a good buy

Yes and yes.
Very good. No longer available new. The Malone is the replcement.
Yes, the tines have two positions and you can alter them so that they don’t throw stuff into the hedge.
I leave the outside rotors in that position.

I’ve got a 6 rotor and it is probably the best tool for hay/Haylage/silage I have ever bought!

The only problem is that if anybody else knows you have got one, they will want to borrow it from you!

That seems dear , I bought the 6 rotor 4 years ago for €10 k inc vat.
Yes I was qouted €9,500 incl vat for a 4 rotor Malone and €10,500 incl vat for 6 rotor Pottinger from a different dealer, both would be approx same width, will do 2 x 10ft swarths. Is the Pottinger worth the extra grand ??

I’ll look again but didn’t think Malone was that expensive!! Malone 4 rotor will cover nearly as much ground as most 6 rotor machines.
