I love it. one of my favourite jobs of the year.I deliver my own, i dread it, dirty hard to tie down not the best job in the world, few of them up here hire wool board press makes better for hauling.
I love it. one of my favourite jobs of the year.
i have taken ours the to the depot since i passed my tractor test in 1978.that was to a very local depot and when that closed in the nineties - i took it on to the next closest depot about 20 miles away
takes big part of the day - time i've unloaded and watched them grade most of it and been down to the fish and chip shop
(best in the south west)
i actually quite like the idea of wool grading as a job.bit late to learn now ...
also of course, there are wool board shearing courses ......
the one in south streetSo which chippy are you calling the best in the SW?

never disappointed - perfectly cooked cod, batter that almost melts in your mouth and .. perfect chips well maybe a few too many hard crispy bits at time if i'm really picky
Well I presumed you meant that one, but I'm not sure about best in SW. Not sure it's as good as it was under previous owners though.the one in south street

Out of interest all these shearers being paid in wool presumably have to sell to Ireland as they won't have a producer number?
Also I thought it was law we HAD to sell to the board unless a rare breed?
I know that is very frustrating but sometimes sh!t gets in shearers way. Weather bad sheep and scattered awkward set ups. What really pisses me off is when weather holds you up for a few days and guys feel the need to ring and guilt trip/abuse you about maggots ewes on their backs etc. when you are bursting yourself to get there. When told to try some themselves they quickly have manners. We try to look after everyone and if it does slide this year we make sure they are prioritised the next. Going thru 4 crews seems fierce bad luck. Hope you get it off them soon. But bear in mind the pressure shearers are under. Some people treat us worse than dogs. Luckily thry only do it once☺I got the wool price guide through the door Saturday..
Looks like they will be paying me less for this year when they pay next year than they will eventually pay me this year for last year
Had a ewe struck yesterday even though everything was due to be shorn Saturday but the shearers cancelled Thursday even through they were booked 3 weeks ago..
4th year in a row I've been dropped in it last minute by the 4th different lot of shearers
F**k this I think I'll be looking for a shedding ram and grading up my flock!
How come you have had four different gangs your choice or there's?I got the wool price guide through the door Saturday..

First bloke retired from shearing,How come you have had four different gangs your choice or there's?
It's not law...
It's your wool to do whatever you like with!
How can people sell to the Irish then?
How do they know how much I produce and therefore if I'm sending it all to them?
Any cases of prosecution?
