You`ll pay later if you buy cheap footwear , joints and back will suffer later in life just for the sake of spending a £120.00 a year instead of £20.00 , as for clothing you`ll just look a t**t if you are a tight wad. :)

Sorry to resurrect thread, which model bib and brace do you have from Strauss? Been looking at Carhartt etc but not sure they will be up to farm use...?
I have been wearing the "image" bib and brace, along with the body warmer and parka jacket. Only problem is the number of pockets, about 40 altogether on the full outfit. Takes ages to check them all......

I have been rejected the first time around and it looks like I will have to go to college again yet again so will be working for the next 18 months at least. Kind of kicked me in the guts if I am honest but there is nothing I can do about it. I can't sit at home doing nothing until applying again.
Sorry for ya , I have a saying, what goes by you ain’t for you . Better luck next time .

Trouser wise
Bisley, a new name from Australia found them very good value.
I use ht Hughes boilersuits the used to or still do make all the boilersuits for the tractor manufacturers.
If you see them you will certainly see the similarities

I was pretty hacked off initially, you only get 4 choices as to who you can apply to and was rejected flat by all 4, yet met 17-18 year olds who had multiple offers for interviews. I began to seriously question wtf is wrong with me. Quite philosophical about it though, sort of believe everything happens for a reason if you see what I mean.

Likewise Ollie, I’m sorry to hear that. Must admit I’d been wondering what was happening. Plenty of work in the meantime?

Yeah im hoping to find a job full time until winter now. I need to earn the maximum money I can as I will need to buy a computer and travel expenses/books and whatever else for 5 years straight.

Driving a tractor is largely the only thing I know how to do and its how I financed uni the first time.

You only get one set of feet so it's important to look after them

That’s very true.as with everything in life you get what you pay for.a lot of lads I work on building sites with buy the cheapest footwear they can including trainers and I often get my leg pulled for buying expensive footwear, bucklers in my case.i have worn trainers during the summer time but my right foot allways seems to Goto the right of trainer or front of foot seems to go over to outside.this has given me enormous problems including wearing supports in all my shoes now and often get a bit of pain in foot.before seeing an oestiopath I’d had days being unable to walk.take care of your feet boys.you probably spend half your life on them

Bought a pair of Oliver ATs from reviews in here. Best pair of boots I've ever owned.....so far. I used to wear whatever the building supplies had, and always had sore knees and I'm only 31. New boots on and I haven't used voltarol since I've got them. Bought a pair of Carhartt dungarees brilliant investment, I don't like boiler suits but I also hate a draft up my back.

Carhartt bib and brace are brilliant, I have two pairs and love them. Really hard wearing, only hole I've put in a pair is where I spilt battery acid on them a few years ago and they are still going strong! I even milk in a pair!
You do need to watch the sizing though, always order a size or 2 bigger than you think if you will be wearing them over other clothes.

I would wear the Carharrt bib and brace over usual work clothes, I'm about a 34 inch waist, so do I order a 36 or 38 inch waist? Also how do you find the leg length?

Where do you buy them from, a lot of online stockists seem to have virtually no stock?

Thanks.

haha - I wear my Oliver’s as walking / hiking boots as well as work
and casual wear
I’d wear them as slippers indoors if I was allowed :ROFLMAO:

Boots wise I've tried most Lace up short boots available locally, amblers, Hogg's etc and never got more than 6 months from a pair before they fall apart, and I live in them as soon as conditions allow a move from wellies. About the best ones I've had are DeWalt lace ups which I've had 18 months out of a pair before they gave up and now trying a pair of sketchers safety ones but unfortunately they don't have they same memory foam sole as the non safety ones so not as comfy as my "good boots".
Can't stand dealer/rigger/slip on boots as they just don't give enough support on my ankles
