If working properly, and I think they were robust back in their day, they were mighty quick. The whole set up punched above weight.
Our next Massey experience was a Massey 50B we got a Friday one and the torque converter was useless, anyway we were offered a good deal on a 50HX, with a high lift boom. Now that was a hell of a loader, replaced many years later with a New Holland 85 loader way superior back actor but the loader much the same.

Been through them all!!
Had a 2203
MF 40 digger
MF50 loader
MF50B digger
MF50HX series digger
MF50B digger
MF 60HX Tseries hedge trimmer spec loader.

Been in to the guts of most of them in some way or another, learn't to hate MF industrial designers in the process!! If there's an awkward way of building it they will.
Perkins engines will go on for ever as long as you remember to keep topping up the oil, and they used to be cheap to fix if you had to.
Still got the old 60 as a backup machine, love it stacking bales, absolutely makes a fool of the loadall for that.
I've a NH 95 digger now, the back actor is a weapon, but the front loader although plenty of power is pathetic for loading a trailer with gravel, crap geometry.

Pound for pound one of the best tractors I have driven with a flat 8 on. Never use it now as we don't make small bales and sons prefer to jump on the JD 6630 - "better radio" they say! she is for sale with a heavy heart for £3.000 + vat but I don't mind if she stays here in the barn as seeing it brings back such good memories.View attachment 799612
have you still got it?
