Looks like you have a shadow so at least you have some sun
2012 was a rotten harvest. . . . . if ever there was a time I’d have packed in, it was then.
Character building!2012 was a rotten harvest. Got the combine stuck more than once . Was very down hearted about it all as yields were struggling to get much over 2 ton of shrivelled up rubbish. Combine broke down and I was doing it largely on my own. Then a field I’d let for spuds, ended up looking like the Somme and the maize harvester got stuck .
Thankfully a friend would call after his working day was over, and give me a bit of a hand and lighten my mood a bit .
We got through it though ,but if ever there was a time I’d have packed in, it was then.
Lol!!! It was torrid here too, had swathed all the rape, it was growing out and and the swaths were black, I knew things were getting better/drier when I only had to pull the combine out once or twice a day and then the first day of not getting it stuck was nice. We made a mess but we did get it all in the shed at the end of the day. I have a new drier this year so suspect it will be a drought from now on as we all know when you buy a drier you never get to use it the first harvest!!!!2012 was a rotten harvest. And parts of Devon well over 100mm.
Moved some irrigators this afternoon to be able to spray asap. Couldn’t believe what I saw, this is with 52mm in the rain gauge there. Plus they had 20mm irrigation before the rain.

Help me out here - the top 3" is moist but under that it's as dry as a koala's ar*ehole?
The trouble is, Cows 'n grass, last year what rain there was came mostly up from the South, whereas this year a big lot's come in from the North East and North West.Still only 50ml for the month so far on the South Devon coast. I'm very great full for it but would happily see the same again before this low disappears.
140 in june so far we also manged 46 in may
3 junes since 1980 wetter 1982 1997 and 2007
2012 was wet every month from april to September
We have had about the same .Missed all the heaviest rain only a few miles away.Wouldnt want to much more as ground was starting to mark few days ago .But greatfull after last summer's disaster!Still only 50ml for the month so far on the South Devon coast. I'm very great full for it but would happily see the same again before this low disappears.
Or the combine !Hmmmm. Getting a bit 1985 ish. Or for the younger generation 2012 ish.
If it drys up for harvest, all will be forgiven. Trouble is, once the weather get's stuck in a rut.........
