Will they get the job done

If there's going to be another Scottish independance vote for f*cks sake can ye learn something from this debacle.

Define what the hell it is ye are actually voting on before the referendum, not afterwards.

Oh god yeah. The best thing to happen to this country (after you lot left) Our troubles were pretty much entirely self inflicted. No one made us go nuts on coke and hookers. It's always fun to blame the outsider, but most independent countries problems stem from within.

Mmmm.... Rather an outdated view on the the economic downturn much loved by the politico's because it absolved them and their banking chums of the blame for grossly inflating an economy and a society beyond what either could sensibly cope with. But then again, if you happily partook of coke and hookers while the good times rolled then enjoy the memories.

Who elected the governments who directed the regulators who were supposed to supervise the banks who lent the money to the chancers?

We did.

Banks are greedy self serving money making machines, they did what they do in the environment that was created for them.

The thing with democracy is people get the governments they deserve.

Now now, you must know that's total bollux, I certainly do. There were very few Irish politicians of whatever hue who weren't partial to a brown envelope up at the Galway Races and since most of the voting in Ireland is along tribal rather than logical lines the two main parties will continue to prevail with very little to differentiate them on policy.

The country’s spoke again and its spoke loudly
All them Lilly livered MP,S who shamefully defied there constituents wishes in the referendum have been found out
Boris has the majority and the balls to do it now
Despite the weather it’s a grand morning

And this time the Cons, Brexit Party and UKIP between them could only muster less than 46% of the vote (Down from 52% at the 2016 referendum) - But hey that is how our skewed "Democracy "works in this country.

Anyway those in the North who gave BJ his majority now need to hold him to account 'coz he has no intention of actually listening to them, he'll be hiding in a fridge.

Snp gathered around 1.24 million votes in Scotland
Combined other parties around 1.4 million
So independance isn't a forgone conclusion

47% against 53%. Hardly time for a revolution in my opinion. But Boris needs to sell and demonstrate the benefits of the Union more. Start by putting Union jack flags on all the infrastructure spending here. The EU has been doing this for years!

Thank god we will never have to look at corbyn ever again
It was funny yesterday on 5 live on Emma Barnett show .A caller phoned in to talk about a sponsored silence .She then proceeded to a torrent of attacks on Corbyn
Calling him Markist scum!
Presenter then went into meltdown apologising for her words as not aloud to talk politics on election Day!

Yes and where is it going to get them like Wales and The Assembly here that Labour run and only 0.6% Majority of The Welsh wanted.
Pass the elite in the big City will always rule this country us rural folk are always put too one side & it wont matter which party is in that will always be the same, the genuine working folk have spoken yet again poss stronger than they did in 2016 to finally stop the lot of them MP's thinking there having there way regardless of what we think outside of there ivory towers

Well we had boris talking about bringin the country together. If the reaction of his party is like that of the smug xxxxxxxx on here then there is zero chance of that.
My only hope is his majority is large enough to ignore the extremes with in the party.

I don't feel smug at all and the result is a surprise to me. I think most of us are fed up with the political circus and just want brexit sorted so the economy can get moving forward.

I did not want a hard left government whose political thinking belongs in 1950.

This nonsense should have been dealt with over 2 years ago and I blame all politicians of all stripes for what has gone on. It is time to take off the kid gloves and negotiate a trade deal with the EU. That is straight forward. If they don't recognise the results and the will of the British people then we should leave roots and all.

Sadly I think we will have to recognise that Scotland is coming to the parting of the ways, as I suspect NI will too , with a sea border.
expect eventually that will lead to calls for Wales to leave to if Scotland makes a success.
the big issue is how long the EU will last in its present form without us. It has certainly been the making of Ireland, if Scotland follows suit who knows.

If that is what the people of those regions want then so be it. I woud not want an independent South West UK as our local government are hopeless.

Actually I'd suggest that ours and every other major economy needs to contract, not move forward. Anything else is simply feeding the climate and ecological crisis.

There is a well documented straight line correlation between GDP and energy use. We cannot cut our emissions without cutting our energy use. That means shrinking the economy: decimate food wastage, insulate ALL our housing stock to cut our heating energy use by 75%+, cut our travelling etc, etc.

Enact a proper environment act and regulator able to ensure that the true environmental cost is paid at the point of use for everything we do (so we actually pay for the Chinese emissions and resource use involved in our cheap imported goods). Rebuild our soil health, ecological diversity and water cycle efficiency.

Ditch GDP as a measure of progress in favour of resource efficiency and ecological impact.

I think that's probably a bit much even for Boris to achieve but such fundamental change would need a large majority to implement and we, the public, will never vote for the pain involved. We will just keep putting it off until our world collapses round our ears.
