Recycled Plastic Fencing

We have recently introduced recycled plastic fencing to our product range, and although we have worked with it ourselves (post and rail and stock fence) we are looking for farmers who are willing to try it. It's ideal if you want a very long service life (estimated 50+ years), and particularly suitable for areas prone to laying wet/flooding for extended periods. We are willing to supply the materials at cost for the right project, in exchange for the opportunity to video & photograph the installation. We are based in West Sussex.
The posts have a similar look to dark stained timber and you can staple and screw into them just like wood. You can also drive them with a post driver but we recommend that the holes are spiked or augered first, as the material is ductile.
In terms of cost they are similarly priced to metal fencing systems such as Clipex but have the benefit of looking similar to wood. They are also less prone to lifting out, and you don't need specific fixings to attach wire or electric strands.
For stock fencing posts from 70mm/2.75" to 150mm/6" rounds are available up to 2.8m/9ft long.
Please get in touch if you have a project coming up and would like us to cost the materials: [email protected] or 01798 342251

I wonder if I could persuade our local water company to OK these for their grant funded projects?? Got a water course that needs fencing... again, and been wondering about different materials.
Hi Steve, I'm this would be ideal, and cheaper in the long run. The manufacturer also makes piling products in the same material. If you would like us to send you the full catalogue just ask and we will send it via Wetransfer (email address required). Bruce

Do you do the 60mm diameter ones as well? If so, what sort of price per pallet would they be delivered to the Swindon area, and how many on a pallet?
Hi, yes 60mm pointed rounds are available, unit prices for grey/brown: 1500mm: 4.33/4.69; 1750mm: 5.16/5.49; 2000mm: 5.89/6.35; 2250mm: 6.54/7.09; 2500mm: 7.33/7.91.
Whole pallet is 125 units, delivery to Wiltshire £75 for all items except the 2500mm long (£101).
Prices ex VAT.

Thank you for that.

Your prices are a bit more expensive than the chap I deal through, who buys from Govaplast in Belgium. I bought 250 x 1500mm 60mm grey posts through him in March and the delivered price worked out at about £4.20 (plus vat)per post, based on the above your price would be £4.93 per post. His ex-works price is very low, under £3 per post, but his transport costs per pallet were double yours, so the delivered cost ended up closer.

Hi, we haven't seen the Govaplast products in the flesh, it looks similar to the Hanit product though. I did note that their guarantee is 10 years, Hanit products are guaranteed for 20 years. Please ask if you would like us to quote for any other items.

Can they be knocked in with a post knocker? Or is it best practice to make a pilot hole with the rock spike

Definitely need to rock spike first as any stone, root or just hard ground will mean they just flex when hit with the post rammer. You could (if feeling strong) use an iron bar to make a pilot hole and pour a little water into it, then tap them in with the rammer, thats what I did 20 odd years ago when I first used plastic posts. But rock spiking is the way to go for any serious amount, my contractor reckons he can put plastic in as fast as timber that way, allowing for the fact you never get a post breaking or hitting a rock.

Hi, you must spike the holes first unless it's butter soft ground. Because the plastic is ductile getting the energy through the post isn't as easy as driving timber. A number of the fencing contractors use the mini-digger mounted vibrating post drivers which apparently work well. One suggested a tubular sleeve over the post whilst driving it in.
