Need 150 to extend a track on some rented land. Was wondering what the situation is.

You see the govt pays a grant for mid tier which allows you to use railway sleepers.
The grant drives the price of sleepers up. This is paid to network rail.
So the farmer pays the same for a track and the govt has found a route to subsidise network rail with agriculture's money.

So base price for a sleeper is set at 8.25.

No, like with anything it’s supply and demand driven market, sleepers are sold weekly at auction.

What I was meaning after your grant you can afford to pay 8.25 a sleeper more than I can without the grant.

But the supply is fixed it is whatever track needs replacing. Supply does not increase when the price goes up.
Demand has been artificially manipulated by govt grants.

Your a bit closer to westbury than me can you get the haulage significantly sub 300 for a load.

Probably just depends on traffic i suppose I paid £9.50 delivered I tried to buy at auction but never managed to get any so bought them through someone
