Never heard of a vet giving them

You may need to use more than one though as I've still had them going down with milk fever with just one bolus after calving.Bolus won't get a cow up, good to cover older prone cows as prevention
Same here bolus won't even correct a slight wobble. Use as alternative to under skin for high risk cowsYou may need to use more than one though as I've still had them going down with milk fever with just one bolus after calving.
Our vet mentioned Bovikalc if we couldn't get any calciject and when we asked him for the detail he recommended doing them twice, I think it was once about a week before calving and at least once after, so that's twice to get them into a yolk and bolus them, we have no head yolk in our calving yard so we said it was a no-no.You may need to use more than one though as I've still had them going down with milk fever with just one bolus after calving.

I’m sure I’ve heard on here a good while back that the sheep version was finishing/quite possibly finished by nowIve used aggers drench before they calve , is it only from the vet you can optain them i dodnt know.i was collecting calf rearer cake today the yardman was saying that their finishing with calciject 5 i think he must be pulling my leg . 20% you cant get them anymore he said ,apparently used for shheep
X Zelit for 2 weeks prior to calving has almost eliminated milk fever hereRelief.
Two cases turned up today. Always a bit squeaky with Jerseys no matter how good a transition diet they are on
Sheep version disappeared over a year ago nowI’m sure I’ve heard on here a good while back that the sheep version was finishing/quite possibly finished by now
Seems to be almost impossible to get hold of the red number 5 at the moment.
Will have to look into some alternatives, maybe the above boluses.
Our vets have straight Ca but no number 5.Seems to be almost impossible to get hold of the red number 5 at the moment.

Can you be sure she died from milk fever?Started working on a new farm a few months ago.
Arrived @5.15 am and looked on the lely computer T4C. Health report and got a cow saying acute alert. Oh bloody hell i thought. 2nd Day in lactation and a 4th calver. Went to the calving shed and not there. Looked round the fresh cow group for the one robot. Dead in the cubicles.
Not happy if only i had arrived a few hours earlier or if she stayed in the straw yard.
A few hours later the owner comes out. I said i could of saved her if i got there earlier. He looked at me a bit strange, he said i don't think so.
I said yes if she had calcium!!
I heard later that day he asked the vet do cow's die of milk fever!!!
‘We’ not ‘they’Her conductivity was fine on the reading's. On her activity graph you could see her crashing.
In the weeks before they had several milk fever cases.
