Springs make the fence bombproof, really. This HT wire has about 410kg breaking strain, but these springs (from Kiwitech) keep it tensioned about the same whether hot or cold, and let you deflect the wire a few metres.
I have a wee fender on the bike so I can scoot over the fence, and have some 2m poles to raise the wire up to shift stock underneath. These springs have an inner, to prevent overstretching the spring itself

Single strand electric held my limmys that broke out of the shed and ran over several conventional fences. They weren’t trained either, but they learned fast.

Just stop for a gateway and start again with a new reel?
No, just cut the wire, stick a loop on one and and a zammer handle in the other.
