Think there’s a airbus plane that can do Heathrow-Perth direct 24or 28 hrs
I remember shearers from nz coming here in the 80s and coming via America and there was a reason behind it but can’t remember why cost and didn’t suffer with the jet lag maybe ??? Not sure
I’ve a mate in Perth and his nearest city is in another country we don’t realise the scale of Australia living in the uk
I always do Christchurch- Singapore- Manchester. Just 2 flights makes it easy. Coming home is great get to Singapore stop in the airside hotel for ten hours then a short leg home, especially if the winds blowing the right way👍

the claim has always been that Perth ( WA ) is the most remote capital city in the world 🤣

that’s why a flight of mine went via LA, cos it also went via Auckland . . .

in the early 90’s there was a bit of an upset in the Middle East that caused most airlines to avoid flying over it . . .

I thought only plane used was Boeing 787-9 dreamliner on the direct flight with only 200 passengers
16 /17 hrs always

Youngest daughter left Melbourne yesterday Thursday with her family to go back to the UK left at 10.30pm last night, and we land in Birmingham at 11:45am Friday with a 2 hour stop over in Dubai.

6 months ago If I thought it an easy thing I'd sell and move. I'm not convinced that farming in any country is easy than any other. You need scale out of Europe so still need alot of capital to buy the amount of ground so be still borrowing allot. So then it just land ownership awaiting the capital to rise, or using the increase in capital that iv had to fund a small place then I'd have to work aswell.
I am now using the NHS and would have to seriously consider what implications leaving the UK would have on that.
My parents moved within the uk not really to expand for them selves. They moved and my brother stayed. Worked very well for him as I can see!

when I was flying back & forth to the UK in the late 80’s / early 90’s, it was about 24 hours . . . only 1 stop

Give or take a few hours, it doesn’t make that big a difference
Unless, like my daughter's boyfriend, your flight is delayed so you miss your next flight.
He ended up stuck in some Chinese airport for 18 hours.

But everywhere else on this forum, everyone is pointing to the nonsense of blaming farming for climate change, and highlighting the massive number of flights per day. Yet on this thread it seems its the best thing since sliced bread🤔

I have no issue with flight

on the climate change thing, agriculture needs to stand up & take ownership of its negative impact on the environment ( which has been considerable ), along with every other industry. Rather than just blaming everyone else

freight / passengers carried, along with km travelled, it’s a lot better than most forms of transport

certainly better than a tractor & trailer being used for road transport of relatively low value bulk commodities. . .
