Got a 125k tractor on my protech p300s+ its what I have. Bit over kill but wife loves the vario, saves her clutch leg between posts.... Got to keep them happySomeone has to pay for the fancy tracked machine.

Steering lock on a JD6155 is terrible ,imo you'd be better of with a £6k 2140.
Use a lot less fuel and nice and light.

All business need to invest and move foward, otherwise we'd all still be threshing grain with a flail. I run a tracked machine because I think it's the cheapest and most efficient machine for the fencelines I encounter, it was a big investment, but a reasonably up to date 150 horse tractor and an equivalent post driver would be similar money, and limit me by being too big to get to a lot of jobs. It's a good bit cheaper to fence with my machine than fence by hand @ £25 ish/hr.Someone has to pay for the fancy tracked machine.

£25 ish/hr x10 is £250 day.
100m one man £2.50 a meter.

Yeah I noticed, I wish I could see a fence line that 1 man can take down and put back up 100 meters in 10 hours by hand, I'm sure there is good going ground out there but it's rare up in these hills.

All depends on what options you tick on the spec sheet.
Second hand you'd expect to find something older and basic starting around £15k+

In mvf today and they offering some special offer stock fencing all the materials for 500 metres at £2.50/ metre.

That'll be some weird spec then. Netting and barb be £1/m so that leaves £1.50/m for posts so your not going to get any quality at that price

Just bought materials for 200m inc wooden strainers and 1 gate (clipex posts). Think it works out as £5 ish per m, self installed.
