I wasn’t sure but a guy I follow on fb goes on about getting 10 mpg but that’s on new trucks on continental driving. They’re not getting 10 mpg more like 6.5.

Livestock wagons will be closer to 6 on averageI think 75p a mile would cover fuel if they’re getting 10 miles to the gallon.
Only 59 were mine though.I thought it would be under £2 /hd for that number
New ones are doing 2mpg better than the older onesOn a decker?
If it’s a big old V8 then you will need to shovel the coal a bit fasterLivestock wagons will be closer to 6 on average
True. But they're still not gonna be anywhere near 10. Especially if taken as a weekly average, so including shunting about loading etc.If it’s a big old V8 then you will need to shovel the coal a bit faster
New gen engines are better

I was doing well to get 11 mpg night motorway driving with a lightweight box trailer and Euro 6 engine.
That is very reasonable.4 deck artic 230 mile round trip £500,in fairness I use them a lot and he’s very busy.

Mate I booze with has MAN 440’s av 7.9 on 44t tipper work a lot of hills short runs
Scania V8 s series 16 8-9 mpg
Straight 6 s series 450 10-12 mpg
Daf 460 9-10 mpg
Scania s series 500 straight 6 10-11mpg
It’s all I hear one starts getting a hard on if the other is doing 1 mpg more than another not sure who is telling the truth. Want owt shifting and they are doing 6 again
Knock 1-2 mpg off those last 4 for short runs hills or overweight
They are fridge work on long runs
