We picked potatoes by hand up to last year only 3 acres but 75% by myself plus a mate. Not like when we grew 10 acres & 10 of us picked them.
Just used builders buckets & plastic sheep nut bags.

Cricky...no shortage of baskets or folk. All looking keen..I picked some old second hand ones up when I bought an old Ransomes windrower (much to @Lincs Lass horror!

I suggest 40 litre plastic trugs. Half filled would allow for carrying one handed, and give enough funnel to chute spuds into bags.
Danger would be that 40yrs of evolution has bypassed for potato pickers, and just like with the squirrel sacks of old, regardless of official capacity, they will always try and charge fill them
