    Silage effluent storage

Hi We have to install a new effluent store for our clamps which needs to be 58m3. What are others doing for storage that meets the relevant specs? 58m3 would be a Big tank, are others doing a lagoon instead? thanks

    Screw type bead breaker

I have one of these cheapo sparex Chinese jobbies Is it ok to use an impact wrench on it or will it break it ? Main top nut appears to be attached to the long internal thread by means of a roll pin only. Maybe a torque limiting device ?

    Maize pit

Thoughts on an open maize pit on concrete? Better with bales as walls on the side or just left with no sides?

The SFI: is it actually sustainable?

My name is Jemma, and I am a master’s student at the University of Brighton, studying Environmental Assessment and Management. For my dissertation I am looking into the Sustainable Farming Incentive. If you are a farmer in England, I would be very interested to hear your opinions on the SFI...

    Dodgy silage analysis

We cut our first cut on 10th May and we have just had the analysis which is giving an ME of just 9.9 mj! To me that seems way too low. There were no signs of heading and we use mainly later heading varieties.

    Concrete grain partition recommendation?

Our wet grain shed is 70' wide and 90 deep. Its initally used for wet grain, then becomes short term dry shed when the main shed is full. We usually spilt it down the middle with a bale wall, but for the first time in a very long time, last year we could keep it from moving, no idea why...

I just can't seem to get the knack with these things. I watched some videos yet still failing. Trying to sharpen an axe. The only progress I have made is when I saw advice to use a file to begin. With the file I am able to easily see the progress. The scores in the blade and the edge which...

Weaning a few tomorrow. Needing to do a 3 way split (ewes - fat lambs- replacement ewe lambs). I only have a standard 2 way gate. Is there any way I can temporarily modify it or the race to avoid putting the lambs back through twice? Due to logistics I want the ewes to run straight out yard...
