I have just had my neighbour in to pull out a load of cleavers in my w beans, he had a opinion grass Harrow (einbock type thingy) I was a bit sceptical as the ground was hard, but it’s done an amazingly good job 90%+. But what I was really pleased about was the black grass that it took out too...
So I’ve been spraying a lot lately, and it struck me that I’m spraying lots of ground that just doesn’t need it so I was thinking of mapping.
i realise that we are about to have a new agricultural revolution and teenagers running crowd funded business which don’t come up with much are going to...
Which BLW spray (preferably a hormone) will take out groundsel, chickweed and speedwell in WB. Don't say leave it, land is generally weedy but majority of the weeds are the above, a few thistles. WB really struggling. PDM and Liberator didn't take out well established examples as weather...
Don’t worry, not all in the same field!
in an effort to avoid blanket usage of glyphosate I may have missed a few patches of bg in my stubbles which were direct drilled with spring wheat, the spring wheat has come through nicely, had avadex pre em and was due to have liberator and picomax but...
Spring cereals switch demands herbicide strategy rethink
Farmers abandoning winter cereals and switching to spring wheat and barley will need to pay close attention to broadleaf weed control if they are to prevent significantly reduced yields.
For many arable farms, fieldwork taking place...
The cereals that have managed to survive (quite well thankfully) the last 4 months are all pretty clean. By far the most widespread weed, and the only one worth thinking of controlling is cranesbill. I am struggling for advice over here :( What is recommended as a cost effective but effective...
Does anyone have problems with broadleaf weeds in barley and wheat fields, namely poppy, fathen, cleavers, and speedwell? I am looking for a site to host a herbicide trial on spring barley, winter barley, and winter wheat, if anyone can help? Payment will be made for use of the land plus a...
We have 25ha of ground ploughed in October which was destined to be combi drilled with winters, needless to say it will now be springs. I have not grown springs before any tips??
Realistically, how big Charlock plants can it take out? I wouldn't bother but for the erucic acid contamination issues. I think the odd smaller charlock is feeling sick from the astrokerb but that may be wishful thinking...........
And apart from the speedwells on the label what else does it...

Congratulations to our lucky winner Ben Taylor who took part in the CPM/Bayer survey on winter wheat weed control and has won the fabulous prize of an Arc’teryx Beta AR Jacket worth £480. Ben responded to the survey and completed the tie-breaker question which...
Certainly a difficult year but walked out late (September) drilled block today that has had me concerned all autumn and was pleasantly surprised
no inputs at all so far apart from the farm saved seed and 50kgs DAP at drilling
Going to be a battle keeping pigeons off all winter but frankly I...
Looking at our seed cleaning/seed dressing invoice... ( for seed that is going to have to sit in the shed for a year :banghead::banghead: )
Have been charged VAT on BSPB Royalties but have not been charged VAT on the seed dressing and cleaning? Can anyone explain that one or have my seed...
Managed to get a field of beans in the ground yesterday. Not pretty, but better than nothing.
We normally wait 2-3 weeks before doing pre-em and glyphosate on beans, which would be propyzamide & nirvana. I'm sceptical though that the Nirvana will provide much of a benefit at the end of November...
What herbicide do the agronamists on here recommend for w barley followed by forage rape. With products containing flufenacet and dff the label says to plough before establishing a brassica. Looking to control AMG and broad leafed weeds , some fumitory.
TIA
Picked up by the dogs today in a wood, like cleavers but bigger and pear shaped. Absolute sod to get out their fur, so has a Velcro like covering.
Any ideas on what it is?

Would it be asking for a failure if I ploughed winter beans in on heavy clay land that was meant to be going into second wheat but that is a none starter now as achieving an acceptable seedbed will be impossible....?!
We have had a deduction on a load of wheat £1.50 because it was 15.2% moisture ( all the other loads were below 14.5) I was talking to one of our grain buyers about it and he said he thought there was a .3% leeway and they could not charge unless it was above that, has anyone else heard of that?
