In the 1970's I had an early Landcruiser that had to be dragged back by a Land Rover in Western Australia as they had a design fault where the bell housing was vented and the dust got in and eventually wore it away!!

They did get much better though, unlike the Nissan!

In a similar vein, I had a Landmaster ordered in 1984, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Master , but they couldn't deliver it with the Perkins 236 as promised, so I bought a Landrover high capacity pickup instead. Think the Landmaster would have been more interesting though!

70 Series Landcruisers aren't cheap but you pay for what you get.
That said you would still get change from those sorts of dollars with a new LWB 200 Series or Patrol ute conversion.

The £100k Defender is a v8 with 518hp!! It is also £40k cheaper than the Mercedes G wagon G63.
