2nd hand rake circa £5k ish, chaff spreader fitted by Claas £5k+. Chaff spreader won't kill slugs/slug eggs, germinate weeds and volunteers, smash up the stubble a bit to start it breaking down or let some air in to the top of the soil.
Looks like its been drilled at an angle to existing tramlines from previous crop which have then been used again? Same as what Ive done with everything except 1st wheats into ploughed and cultivated land.
Decided not to bother, if I remember correctly the customer has modified his sprayer to some unusual width so he said he'd put in his own tramlines
one less job to worry about
Going better, though I think I will do a shallow pass with the power harrow to make sure all the seeds are covered. I suppose a rake would be ideal but we haven't got one. Leading tine on its shallowest setting, coulter about 5mm less. 10k.
We have people swapping them around to suit whatever they're doing at the time, but I've never seen them like this. I'll put a picture up tomorrow of how we send them from the factory now.
I would recommend headlands last, it's best to loosen and sow after turning etc.
