Bit of a long shot as I appreciate the take all fungus is in the soil and carries through to the third wheat from second but do you think the cover crop gives any relief?
yes, or rather touch wood we havnt seen any take all in crops following a catch crop wherever in the cycle i.e 2nds 3rds or longer plus we are not sowing 2nd or longer wheats in sept

When moving into continuous wheat, 3rd wheat is often the worst.
I'm not sure I have a rotation any more, and my cropping plan now revolves around continuous wheat, a few beans, and spring cereals for BG control.
Having lost all our osr last year and the bit we have put in this year looking some ok some iffy, this is where we are as well. Putting some catch/covers in to give the soil a bit of variety and a few beans and a bit of spring barley as and when it fits.
Biggest problem is everything being ready at the same time for harvest.

What cultivations are you using ?

Simba SLD (with low disturbance feet) fb Philip Watkins double press with discs in front (b......y good tool in the dry). Occasionally plough. Often go with Horsch terrano in between if there is a lot of straw.
In a few days we will have it all moved and pressed ready for drilling. Easiest autumn ever. Best seedbeds ever over the whole farm.
If there is bad BG anywhere we will drop the SLD and just press twice to keep it shallow.
