Never mind moving it, how did you stop it? No DBs I’ve got or had have ever had trailer brakes and dry drum brakes only just stop the tractor! When I tried to move a trailer with about 14 tonnes all up with a DB 990, realised how underpowered the older smaller tractors are for today's work, besides the gear changing to get some momentum. Things have moved on...
The brakes on our 996 are as good as any other tractor of its era that I've driven, but I rarely use them. Yes I’d forgotten about the tanker we had on the spool. Wasn’t much use for an emergency stop as you invariably couldn’t reach the lever in time! The brakes on our 996 are as good as any other tractor of its era that I've driven, but I rarely use them. But a 7 or 9 ton trailer will only have 5 ton of grass in it at maxused to lead with a Ford 4000 and 9 ton silage trailer when I first left college.
Seemed ok at the time, not flat land either.
Wouldn`t fancy it now though
