Am replacing the 399 for a yard tractor around the same hp. Was close to going with a 06 5460 with 3800hours but have seen on a few forums have said that there very bouncy on the road. Do a good bit off carting with a tipper so I've been put off it. Lookin at the 6265 now with lowish hours, obviously a fair bit cheaper. What's that verdict on them?

They're 115? So she'd have a bit about her then the 5460 then. There a few 6290s in the area ,boys swear buy them. Way to big for yard obviously.

I've got a 5460 dyna 4, the old shape and a 6270 ( not quite the same I know), I will pretty much always chose the 62 over the 54 to use.

Would prefer the the 4 cylinder I think the yard is tight. That said i have a teleporter so no need for the loader. There a local man with a tasty 6465 for sale well looked after, I think she's to big for my but.

ive got a 6465, ive said it before its as manoeuvrable if not more manoeuvrable that the jd 6430 we had before just because it steers so sharp in comparison (no chassis rails) compared with JD

check the specs on the 6200 series the 6 cylinder may not be much longer.

we chose it specifically because as i understand its the shortest wheel base lightest 6 cylinder they made at the time, its a great tractor.

Really? I've Heard there a good yoke I just thought she'd be big. That's interesting now as I'd say that local man would give me tractor for a few day to try her out. 04 with a Perkins engine would that bother you?

Look at S Cheers website as his 6465 looks a fantastic buy with low hours for the age

Buy whatever you like, but forget about the size difference from 4 to 6. It's not worth mentioning. It truly isn't.

A 6270 will get in the same space as a 65.

He has had that for a while, think it must have had the linkage, steps and wheels painted to be that tidy? You wonder why it would have needed all that painted at those hours? Also tyres are pretty low for those hours?

Some veg jobs will pull paint fairly fast if running anything topping. My brother works for a small dealer and remember 30 years ago they had a two year old low houred tractor and had to respray wheels as I believe it was on a beet harvester and tops burnt the wheels down to bare metal.
20 years do alsorts to paint anyhow
