We supply the Kingswood accounts software for farmers and contractors in northern Ireland. You'll find the main office details for Kingswood of you do a Google search. We use the accounts for our own farming business and I'd recommend it.We are considering new accounting software this year and I wondered if anyone had tried sum-IT/farmplan or would recommend any other software. Ideally would like the usual invoicing, VAT and tax but would also be useful to track the contracting and sheep businesses, we currently use quickbooks but not to its full potential
@Clive or anyone else, have Farmflo got any better with the deficiencies (nvz etc) mentioned at the beginning of this thread?
no - development seems to have stoped with Farmflo and I'm told they are focusing very much on Ireland and selling what they currently have developed
However I think I have finally found something very credible as GK replacement, it is 100% cloud based (subscription for £0-£30 per month feature activation dependant), unlimited user numbers within a business, has a very good app for mobile, is very users friendly and integrates with Xero and other could account systems. I've been using it alongside GK to try find the issues and so far I love it and am finding it does a lot more than GK especially re financials, budgeting and price / yield scenario stress testing etc.
It's not available in the UK yet and will needs some development to make it work with UK crops, varieties, inputs and fertiliser regs etc. We are looking into viability of bringing it to the UK via TFF, so far so good and if all goes to plan might be looking for beta testers in the spring if you are interested ?
don't ask me for links / names etc as Im under a NDA at the moment
That looks interesting @Clive. For me to move I would need an offline app as I don’t always have a signal. Also needs to be fully nvz compliant.
Currently fed up with being told nvz module is on the way by muddy boots. It’s been a very long wait.

Very interested in this @Clive , am not a large grower so gatekeeper was way over priced for me. Been using spreadsheets plus planet for recs. Been looking for a program with planet incorporated within it.
How much is gatekeeper? Currently using green light grower management, but they put the price up this year (mainly because I wanted the chemical pro check part)Gatekeeper does farm stock control
Use a Xero adon for another business that has stock so it's all quite possible
We have set up a livestock levy sub code and an arable levy. When we sell a load of wheat, we put wheat in the one column and link it to crop sales, then put levy underneath and link it to arable levy (if anything I’ve made that sound more complicated than it is!).Just looking at this same question due to the concern about the upcoming quarterly reporting, which I am told might be delayed, but will probably come in sooner or later.
Spoke to Farmplan about Gatekeeper and their accounting package. With @Boysground's comments in mind, I too thought it looked rather old school and a little bit clunky.
I did try Xero for a while, but didn't find it so good that I couldn't help but use it. Will probably look at it again as a first option. @Clive, is there farming features that it lacks? Farmplan guy said, as you would expect a competitor to say, that Farmplan's accounting software could take into account things like levies on grain sales that would confuse a more mainstream software package. Not sure to what extent that is totally rubbish.

Wow!no idea as we bought it a decade ago (hasn't changed much in that time ) - it wasnt cheap then and doubt its got cheaper ! we pay over 1k pa in support and update fees alone
Anyone use quick books? Was looking at going into xero but are accountant doesn't use xero and recommended quick books
