Thanks for this, presumably you are on about spring born calves? I am on about autumn borns out of decent size Holstein Friesian cows as there would be a fair difference in price I would have thought. This year 120 heifers, 150 bulls. Flat rate out of mixture of Irish Freisian, Kiwi Freisian and JEX cows. Between 10 days and 4 weeks old.

Likewise but out of crossbreds. mix of market and private sales.bulls £200 to £250
heifers £180 to £225
minimum 2 weeks old, out of Holsteins
If it works then fair enough but calves on average are up £50/hd on last year and cake and powder are slightly cheaper so your local buyers are having a result£150 for bulls and £100 for heifers, gone in 2 to 3 weeks. For 2 local neighbours. Was same price last year, and will be next year. I am happy and they are happy. Sell some in market that they do not need, some weeks you get a fortune, other weeks not.
That’s the same arrangement I have had with a dairy for a while but sadly they went down with TB so not able to have them. Been trying to source calves locally which is limited where I am based and they seem to want a fortune for very young calves!£150 for bulls and £100 for heifers, gone in 2 to 3 weeks.
